After speaking, Shannon raised a hand and sent a talisman flying forward. The talisman shot toward the red gates as she formed a mudra and chanted, "Break."
A crack followed. It was as if an invisible mirror shattered across the gates as the barrier placed upon them broke apart.
Shannon didn't immediately charge forward even after tearing the first layer of protection. Instead, she raised a hand and unleashed a surge of supernatural energy.
Her snowy tails unfurled behind her with a sharp whoosh and lashed out. Then, they hacked on the gates with a forceful momentum.
Boom! A massive hole was blasted through the red gates.
Kai was utterly speechless. Wasn't she supposed to know what she was doing and hold back?
Though he grumbled inwardly, he didn't hesitate. He was the first to step through the wreckage and roar out, "Where are the foxes in this place! Bring us Hector!"
Soon, a burst of foxfire came hurtling toward him. Kai instinctively took a step back, only to remember that he was now a dragon. Why was he backing off?
He planted his feet firmly on the ground and swiftly drew a circle with his palm. A shimmering water barrier materialized in front of him.
As it blocked the incoming foxfire, a powerful water pillar shot back in retaliation.
Splash! The water pillar struck the ground with force.
The ones who'd attacked were two nearly identical young men standing at the entrance. Their expressions were ice-cold as they glared at Kai and barked, "This is Wynthorpe Manor! Who dares trespass!"
Benjamin raised his hand and prepared to summon a golden barrier when he sensed something.
A flick of an array pulsed beneath their feet, accompanied by a familiar figure suddenly flashing in front of them.
The figure swung their tails at the incoming foxfire balls without hesitation. As the three slightly disheveled fox tails collided with the approaching fireballs, the figure formed a mudra and chanted, "Fire."
The fireball that had been knocked away was suddenly engulfed by a fiercer blaze in mid-air. It doubled in size before viciously turning back on its original casters.
Shannon stared at the all-too-familiar figure in front of her. Her lips parted in disbelief. "Mom!"
The slightly disheveled woman turned her head. It was Thalia, who smiled gently at Shannon and said, "I'm here, Shannon. Don't be afraid. We'll bring Hector home together."
