Heiress Unmasked: Shaking the World With Geomancy novel Chapter 1861

The Stone Turtle was born with the weight of The Five Great Peaks upon its back. Over time, those peaks accumulated putrefaction.

Unlike the Dragon Vein, the Stone Turtle could not purify them. So, to rid itself of the putrefaction, it would shed putrefied parts of the carapace from its true form.

Each piece of carapace from the true form contained a fragment of the Stone Turtle's source energy, so as it shed more over the years, its true form grew weaker. The carapace Zane had picked up carried not only its source energy but also a trace of its consciousness.

Everyone was shocked to hear the Stone Turtle speak. Even Zane couldn't recall ever picking up a piece of its carapace.

As the spokesperson of the crowd, Scott blurted out the question everyone was thinking. "Wait… If Zane was the one who picked up your carapace, why did you end up bonding with Hank instead?"

Zane looked equally puzzled, while Hank seemed to remember something, and his expression turned slightly odd.

Then, the Stone Turtle continued, "Because he gave my carapace to his younger brother, Hank."

Zane was utterly speechless. He pressed his lips together and typed. "I don't remember."

He'd been distant as a child and never felt close to Hank, let alone give the latter a gift.

Hearing this, Hank's expression darkened. He was silent for a long time before muttering somewhat sulkingly, "You did."

If the Stone Turtle hadn't brought it up, he wouldn't have remembered, but he'd indeed received a gift from Zane when he was younger. It was a dull gray rock-like piece.

When he was nine, he followed Marie to the sanatorium and saw Zane. He'd always known he had an older brother, but he'd never gotten close to him.

When he saw Zane, the latter was holding the strange object.

Back then, Hank didn't know Zane's improvement was associated with the wish he made on the carapace. And when he was sent back home, he lost the carapace as if it'd vanished and slowly forgot about it over time.

Yet though the carapace disappeared, the Stone Turtle began to appear in his dreams as its true form over the next few years.

The Stone Turtle explained, "The source energy within my carapace was used to grant your wish for Zane to live, so the consciousness followed you."

The true form of the Stone Turtle had been in deep slumber back then. Its soul was fragmented, and if the consciousness was left alone, it would fade away with time.

Years later, Hank sought out Shannon to carve an emerald pendant of its true form. And that was how it revived through the emerald body.

It hadn't been Hank's opportunity alone, for they were each other's opportunities and connection.
