Heiress Unmasked: Shaking the World With Geomancy novel Chapter 1856

Shannon's eyes were cold. Her expression barely changed, but from the disgust in her gaze, Benjamin could clearly feel her rage.

Indeed, she was mad, not just because he was being treated like a bartering item, but because he was Crisea's Dragon Vein.

The fact that Erick dared make this offer meant the forces behind him shared the same twisted beliefs. They were convinced they could trade the Dragon Vein for such a ridiculous condition.

Shannon believed that if Benjamin were not a person but a physical object, those people would not hesitate to carve him up piece by piece, like they'd once forced Crisea to split its lands.

She told Erick to shut up because she truly hoped he would. Right now, she was dangerously close to frying them both to a crisp.

Perhaps keenly sensing this, Erick finally stopped his act of compromise or trying to negotiate. Shannon, Mike, and Lexie bound them up and sent them to the Special Security Agency.

Shannon was not worried about handing them over to Luke because she knew the officials of the Mystic Arts Association were truly responsible for negotiations with foreign mystic masters.

She rarely interacted with the Mystic Arts Association officials, so she turned to Benjamin and asked, "The Mystic Arts Association committee; they're trustworthy, right?"

The officials had been competent when they dealt with Krovian shamans, but their reputation wasn't the best from what she'd heard. She worried they might choose to compromise in the name of diplomatic peace.

Benjamin knew her concerns weren't just for him. Even so, the fact that she was protecting him sent a ripple through his heart.

He didn't want him to overthink it and avoided commenting directly on the reliability of the officials. Instead, he suddenly brought up someone else.

"I remember you're acquainted with the abbot of Windsong Monastery."

Shannon's expression grew serious at the mention of the past incident. She had a vague guess.

Sure enough, Benjamin went on saying, "But none of those mystic masters ever made it back. The current abbot of Windsong Monastery was the youngest disciple of the time. He'd been ordered to stay behind and became the monastery's only survivor."

Shannon felt a weight in her heart. She'd always chosen not to peer into the destinies of mystic masters, but she'd never expected the cheerful Martin to have such a heavy past.

No wonder Windsong Monastery's inheritance had nearly disappeared. Neither Martin nor Juniper had a particularly strong cultivation either.

Yet, despite their average cultivation, they still held a special place in the mystic arts community.
