Hector remarked, "Travis is probably hoping to make his way back to the Whites, but I doubt he'll hold on much longer."

He knew Yvette's methods all too well.

She'd turned a blind eye to Travis because of his status as a White. After all, it was useful to have a few lackluster rivals in the company to reassure Leonel that the succession was still under his control.

As Hector finished recounting the White family's affairs, they arrived home.

Shannon remembered her plans to return to campus, so she paused briefly and waved at Hector. Then, she stepped out of the car.

"I'm heading to the Cooper residence. You go ahead."

Hector wasn't sure how to respond. He'd avoided mentioning Benjamin on the way back, but Shannon was still lured away.

Shannon intended to bid farewell to Benjamin. Whenever the latter had gone on business trips, he'd let her know in advance.

She felt it was only polite to inform him since she'd be away for two months. They were publicly regarded as a couple, after all.

Shannon had never expected to run into someone else at the Cooper residence. To be exact, they were a Cooper.

A boy stood before her around the age of twelve. Despite his youth, he carried himself with an air of calm maturity.

When he saw Shannon, he showed no sign of surprise and greeted her instead. "Nice to meet you, I'm Henry Cooper."

"Nice to meet you too." Shannon nodded politely before turning to look at Benjamin. She was surprised to see that he'd have other members of the Cooper family present at his residence.

Though she had no idea why, she'd never seen anyone else from the Cooper family here since she'd started frequenting the Cooper residence.

She didn't ask, but Benjamin explained anyway, "He's a candidate for the next heir of the Cooper family. I selected him from one of the cadet branches."

After a brief pause, he added, "I'd planned to formally introduce him to you in a few days."

Shannon was startled by the mention of an heir. Benjamin was young, so wasn't it a little too early to start grooming an heir? But what puzzled her more was his subsequent statement.

Benjamin listened to her evaluate Henry as if offering free consultation and felt a mix of resignation, but he said nothing more. Instead, he asked why she'd come to him.

"I'm heading back to campus soon. I'll be in Jamborough next month, so I won't be visiting for two months. I thought I should let you know."

Benjamin's gaze softened. He looked at her as a faint smile played on his lips. "Is this an update?"

Shannon paused as a flicker of emotions crossed her mind. Then, she pursed her lips and replied, "I guess so."

Benjamin's smile deepened at that. It was a subtle barely noticeable curve hidden under the radiance of his golden light.

"All right. I'll be waiting for you."

He knew why she needed to leave and what she intended to do, but he'd remain in Seastone waiting for her.

Perhaps by the time they met again, some things between them would've cleared up.
