With trembling hands, Olivia withdrew her shielding talisman and saw its originally vibrant color dim visibly. Wearing it on her neck again, she kept her cool and dialed Skylar's number.
She reported the incident to him, and after hearing he would arrive the next morning, she finally relaxed.
At that moment, the assistant's voice sounded outside the door again. This time, it was Eleanor Tash, Olivia's assistant, herself.
However, Olivia refused to open up for her. "I'm fine now. Get some rest. Also, tell Mr. Moon I'm taking a sick day tomorrow."
She dared not open the door. Until Skylar arrived tomorrow, she wouldn't even touch the door handle. That ghost obviously came for her, and since she was alone, she had to protect herself.
Olivia spent that night replaying fan videos, consisting of scenes the Sixth Sense audience had previously screen-recorded. Not only was there an incantation playlist, compiled with all of Shannon's chants, but there was also Skylar's version of the Golden Decree.
This was the unique wisdom of the current generation. It didn't matter if they couldn't memorize it; as long as their phone had enough storage, they were good to go.
Fortunately, nothing else happened throughout the night. Olivia only managed to doze off lightly until morning.
When she woke up again, it was due to the sound of someone knocking at the door—the same unbroken and unrhythmic knocks.
The continuous thuds made Olivia's heart pound along with it. She knew the ghost was back.
Although unsure why it was bold enough to move around during the day, she couldn't ignore the noise. Grabbing onto her shielding talisman, she slowly inched toward the door with endless knocks.
This time, she didn't choose to attack with the talisman. Instead, she took a deep breath and began yelling at the door, "Stop knocking, will you? All you do is knock, knock, knock. Are you a woodpecker or something?"
"Let me be clear—I know people from both the Special Security Agency and mystic schools. If you knock another time, I'm going straight to the agency!"
Olivia usually kept a tight rein on herself, rarely letting loose like this. For some reason, though, it got easier the more she kept cursing.
She went on for a full half-hour, using the kind of sharp, street-smart tone one would hear in dramas when characters cursed out those local bullies.
By the time she was done, she had worked herself into such a heated state that she almost forgot what had triggered it all.
Whenever the other party prepared to knock again, she cursed at them even louder, as if trying to make them regret ever thinking of knocking. She firmly believed she had the upper hand as long as she remained fierce and unyielding.
