"Being part of the Jensen family doesn't mean you can act however you like. What are you going to do about this?"
"They're coming for Shannon. You knew someone might cause trouble, so why did you invite us here!"
"Were we pawns? Were we scapegoats for your daughter?"
As the guests' angry shouts grew louder, more younger attendees and stubborn elders were swayed by Ziva's words.
But some prominent and clear-headed patriarchs like those standing beside George remained unaffected. They frowned deeply at the scene and were unsure of what was going on.
Sensing the rising tension, Scott, Hank, and Caleb rushed forward to join Hector in blocking the advancing guests.
"What are you doing? What has this got to do with Shannon? Are you out of your mind?"
"This is absurd! Who's ever said anything about you being scapegoats?"
"It's Ziva! She's using her power of words to influence them!" Caleb yelled.
He knew Ziva's power the best from experience. Her potent influences were the reason he'd started targeting Shannon.
He shot Ziva an angry glare through the crowd, but the latter ignored him entirely. She enjoyed the chaos she'd created and watched the guests turn their anger on Shannon.
She'd experienced this before, and she wanted Shannon to know what it was like to be loathed by the world.
Her lips curled into a faint smile as she suppressed the metallic taste in her throat.
Amidst the commotion, a sharp and jarring screech of static cut through. Everyone including Ziva was instinctively forced to cover their ears.
They turned toward the source of the noise and saw a figure standing on the stage, holding a microphone. The Jensens were stunned to see Zane there.
"She must be killed, or she will destroy everyone here!"
As soon as the words left her mouth, blood spilled from her lips. But she smiled triumphantly.
The crowd's minds went blank. All rationality left them and was replaced by unbridled anger as they glared at Shannon.
They charged forward and breached Scott's protective line.
Shannon expressionlessly resolved the remaining half of the black smoke and turned to face the incoming attacks. Her grip on the amulet tightened.
Just as she was ready to fight, a deep and unfamiliar voice cut through the chaos. It was raspy but carried an undeniable air of righteousness.
"Stop at once!" The three words reverberated like a shockwave and silenced the frenzied crowd. The guests instantly returned to their senses.
