HeartBroken novel Chapter 9

Chapter Eight

Isra’s expression changes to the same expression Hammad has on. Isra runs toward her.

"How long are you going to work? All day?” Isra exclaims! Anger evident on her face

"I’m almost done now. Let's go and call everyone."Sahaan says with a shrug.

Hammad decides to break the tension in the room by trying to steal the kebab Sahaan made. Sahaan smacks his hand.

"Ouch! You cruel woman! Why are you hitting an innocent child?” he pretends to cry loudly.

"Yeah, right. Very innocent indeed!" Sahaan replies sarcastically.

"You remember the surprise Hammad was talking about? Your mother’s brother is coming!"Isra nudges Sahaan.

"My uncle? But what is he doing here? I mean what does he have to do with Amrah’s in- laws?" she asks while getting out of the room.

The trio settle on the bench in the garden.

"We don't know either. But aunt is really happy. She’s gushing all around Ahmed.” Hammad shrugs his shoulders.

"Oh God! Don’t tell me that jazzy girl is also coming." Isra shrieks loudly, her eyes wide open.

"I am leaving the house! I can’t bear that lizard!" Hammad rushes towards his car.

"Anyways, it’s not like I enjoy talking to you. I just had some good news for you guys! You guys will hear of it, soon.” she dramatically flips her hair and sashays out of the garden, in her skin-tight short dress and jeans, her scarf hangs loosely.

"What is she wearing? She has no respect for our traditions!” Isra says sarcastically, scanning Tanzeen from top to bottom.

Everyone bursts in laughter at her comment.

"After all, whose cousin is she?" Amrah taunts Sahaan, eyeing her reaction from peripheral vision. Sahaan just ducks her head down and fiddles with her fingers.

"We are her cousins, not that lizard cum jazzy girl. And for your information, I’ve never seen Sahaan without her scarf, let alone those clothes.” Isra states in her firm voice, gripping Sahaan’s shoulder.

"one hundred and one percent right!.” They turn towards the voice. Hammad smiles, while Ahmed just walks alongside him.
