There was no actual scent. She brought it up to see if he’d mention meeting Diane.

Hearing her speak to him, Elvin panicked. He lifted his collar and sniffed, then looked at Bianca with a roguish grin, “It’s your scent.”

Hearing this, Bianca pressed her lips into a faint smile. She said calmly, “Elvin, sleep now. I’m tired.”

With that, she turned her back again.

Elvin thought she’d make a little space for him. Even a tiny gap, he could squeeze in.

The next dawn, Blair’s phone buzzed with a message from Katelyn.

Katelyn said, “Blair, breakfast is ready. I’m leaving Harmony Residence now. If Winnie’s still asleep, come get it.”

Blair replied, “Okay.”

Late last night, Winnie had been moved to a regular ward.

About half an hour later, Katelyn arrived outside the ward. Winnie hadn’t woken, so Blair got up and walked out.

When Katelyn handed him the meal box, he didn’t take it.

After a pause, he suddenly said, “Katelyn, call Winnie’s mom.”

Katelyn was stunned, “Huh?”

Blair had dwelled on Lynette’s words all night. He felt guilty.
