chapter273
When Corey called, Blair couldn’t bear to check the screen, terrified it might be Katelyn with worse news.
Relief washed over him seeing it wasn’t.
Katelyn paced frantically outside the emergency room when Blair arrived.
Spotting him, she stopped and met his gaze. “Sir, you’re here.”
Blair’s eyes were bloodshot, his voice gravelly. “How’s Winnie?“.
Katelyn shook her head. “No doctor’s come out yet. I don’t know.”
Blair shut his eyes briefly, jaw clenched tight.
His mind churned with chaos, heart pounding wildly against his ribs.
After sitting down on the bench, he hunched over, clasped his hands against his forehead, silently praying for his daughter’s safety.
Seeing Blair like this, Katelyn opened her mouth to speak but
swallowed her words.
Winnie’s condition remained uncertain, so she decided against voicing negative thoughts.
Several minutes passed before Blair suddenly looked up and asked Katelyn, “Where’s Bianca?”
Katelyn turned to Blair, shaking her head. “She wasn’t here when I

arrived. I don’t know where she went.”
Hearing this, Blair furrowed his brow.
He pulled out his phone and checked it. There were messages he’d sent Bianca asking her to come stay with Winnie at the hospital, but no replies.

Though Bianca hadn’t responded, Blair believed she wouldn’t abandon their daughter.
He figured she must be busy with something.
But after waiting another ten minutes, there was still no sign of Bianca.
So Blair decided to call her.
The call connected, but nobody answered.
He tried several more times, all unanswered.

Blair grew bewildered, unsure whether Bianca was ignoring him or hadn’t seen the calls.
Just as his anxiety peaked, the ER doors swung open.
Blair sprang up, voice tense. “Doctor, how’s my daughter?”
The bespectacled doctor removed his mask. “She’s stable now, but needs overnight observation in pediatric ICU before moving to a regular ward.”
Blair exhaled the breath he’d been holding.
Seeing his relief, the doctor scolded, “Winnie’s only five! Parents should know better than to leave a hospitalized child alone.”

Blair frowned. “But her mother came, didn’t she?”
The doctor’s torte sharpened. “Had the mother been here, this ER visit wouldn’t have happened.”
Only then did Blair realize Bianca never showed up.
………….
He stopped hearing the doctor’s next words.
All he cared about now was why Bianca hadn’t come.

Rage ignited in Blair’s chest as he repeatedly dialed Bianca.
Still, no answer.
Now he knew: she wasn’t missing his calls–she was deliberately ignoring them.
Her willful neglect nearly cost their daughter’s life.
Thankfully Winnie was safe. But if she hadn’t been…
Blair couldn’t bear to finish the thought.
Meanwhile, in the hospital room.
