chapter223
Though Bianca’s words temporarily resolved Blair’s crisis, they planted seeds for future trouble.
With Bianca speaking like this, the old gentleman couldn’t press further.
He reluctantly conceded, “Since Bianca says so, fine. I’ll visit discreetly later. But Blair, if you mistreat Bianca, remember our family rules.”
Blair met his grandfather’s words with a strained smile, “Don’t worry, Grandpa. Come anytime. I’ll treat Bianca better than myself.”
Only Bianca knew how painful it was for Blair to make that promise.
The old gentleman rose, leaning on his cane. “Walk with me awhile,” he commanded.
Bianca glanced at Blair, finding his gaze locked on hers–glared daggers, actually.
The message was clear: he blamed her for misspeaking.
But those words weren’t mistakes; they were calculated for Grandpa’s
ears.
Only by witnessing Blair’s cruelty firsthand would Grandpa accept their inevitable divorce.
Supporting the old gentleman between them, Bianca and Blair left the ward.

In the hospital garden below, they encountered Berry Schwartz in casual wear.
He paused briefly upon seeing Bianca.
Yet his voice brimmed with delight when he spoke: “Bianca?”
That tender “Bianca” made Grandpa’s brow furrow, his eyes turning frosty.
Bianca was also surprised to see Berry.
After a brief moment of astonishment, a gentle smile spread across her face as she greeted him: “Senior, what a coincidence! I didn’t expect to run into you here.”
Berry smiled back: “Likewise. Actually, I was just about to call you.”
Still holding the old man’s arm, Bianca kept her eyes on Berry, completely missing the warning look in her grandfather’s eyes.
Meanwhile, Blair seized the opportunity while Berry greeted Bianca to pull his phone from his pocket.
He seemed to be replying to a message–likely work–related, the grandfather assumed.
Bianca only had eyes for Berry as she asked: “Did you need something, Senior?”
Maintaining his smile, Berry replied: “Miles is hosting a teaching event this weekend. Will you attend?”
Without hesitation, Bianca agreed: “Okay.”
But before Berry could respond, the grandfather abruptly inquired:

“You seem quite young, sir. Are you married?”
Hearing this, Blair swiftly pocketed his phone.
Bianca noticed his movement when she glanced at her grandfather.
She guessed he might be chatting with Diane–perhaps exchanging longing words or asking about Winnie’s condition.
Berry shifted his lingering gaze from Bianca to the old man, answering calmly: “Not yet.”
The grandfather’s expression softened: “Since you’re Bianca’s friend, this grandfather won’t be stingy. Shall I introduce someone to you?”
Berry declined instantly: “Thank you, but no need. My heart belongs to someone already.”
As he spoke, his eyes instinctively flickered toward Bianca.
The grandfather, wise to such matters, immediately recognized Berry’s unspoken feelings.
Blair had long known Berry’s interest in Bianca wasn’t platonic, though he’d never cared–until now, seeing his grandfather take notice.
