Granting One Last Wish novel Chapter 35

ABBY

"Abby, where is your phone?" Logan asks and looks pissed while Mason is already sitting in the passenger seat.

"Did you wake up on the wrong side of your bed? It's in my bag." I roll my eyes

"Seb is gone," Logan says slowly.

What? Gone?

I freeze. A chill of dread seeps through my bones. My breathing holds in my lungs as I stare at Logan in shock.

I hold my hand against my chest. He's joking, right? "It's not funny. I know this is your way of getting me into talking to Sebastian. I'm not impressed, and don't something like that again," I say before I get in the backseat.

"I'm not joking, Abby. You should've checked your phone. Everyone is calling you. I received a call from White, and he won't joke when it comes to your husband," Logan explains as he starts my car.

"He was gone since last night. The last person who saw him was Patrick. He was drunk and was lying down on the couch when Patrick left. He called his mom. That was the last call he made. His phone is still on the coffee table," Mason adds.

I can't breathe, and my hands start to tremble. My world just turns upside down again. This is not what I think it is, right? He's not taken. No way. He has security, and his security system is pretty tight.

I just lost Mom, and I can't lose Seb too. I wipe my tears from my face.

My mind wanders back to my nightmare. No. God, no. I squeeze my eyes shut to erase the thought. This is not happening.

"Abby, I'm sorry. They already alerted his security team. His car was found in the clearing four miles away from his house. It was unlocked, but he wasn't there. No signs of a struggle though, which was a good sign. It was clean, and the key is still there."

I can't hear about this anymore as I sob in the backseat.

"Abby, it's your dad on the phone." Mason taps my shoulder, making me startle

I look at him and blink many times to see him clearly. I pull myself together before I talk to my dad. "Dad, where is Sebastian? Where is my husband? Tell me you found him and he's okay. Put him on the phone, and I need to talk to him. Please, put him on the phone, please?" I cry and wipe my nose with the back of my hand. It's killing me more than how he left my apartment four days ago. Now I blame myself for what is happening.

"Abby, we still have no words from the security team. We search in every corner of his apartment, but he's not there. Patrick said he was drunk when he left. He couldn't get out of his apartment in his state. Then how did they find his car four-mile away?

He didn't report to his office today, and he didn't answer his phone. One of his cars is missing from his garage. White managed to track the last address saved on his GPS, and that's how they found it. It's less than 24hours, and we can't inform the authority just yet. Do you want to come here, sweetheart? We booked tickets for three. The flight is leaving in less than two hours."

"Yes, I'm coming with them." I should have been there to find my husband.

"Abby, he'll be fine. He's strong, and he won't give up. He's still somewhere, alive and probably getting himself drunk." I know Logan is just trying to keep me calm, but I start losing my mind.

"When was the last time you talked to him? I should have called him back. What if--?" My shoulder shakes, and I shake my head.

"Abby, calm down. I know, and I can feel it that he's still alive and drunk. That's why he can't get back home," Mason tries to cheer me up, but it doesn't help.

"We'll find him, I promise," says Logan.

"He can't die. I still need him." I'm like a stupid. I don't even know what I'm saying.

"I wish we meet again in different circumstances. Did Seb say something when he talks to you?" I ask his mother.

"Oh, a lot, dear." She smiles meaningfully. Does she know something? "He said that he was in love and he's kicked out from the apartment and that she doesn't like him anymore. He also said she kept ignoring his calls and messages."

I swallow hard. "I'm so sorry. I don't mean to cause him trouble. If I only knew, I would never kick him out, and he should be here right now." God, this conversation is so awkward.

"He will be okay, Abby. I know my son. He's probably asking for your attention. He never gets drunk like this. He was upset when you mentioned about divorce," she continues and looks at me in the eye.

I'm so shocked that I just stare at her with my jaw drop. Seb mentioned it to them that he's married? Her smile widens, and she gives me another hug.

"Jules, that's enough. You're squeezing Abby pretty tight. Allow her to breathe." Her husband comes to me and hugs me as well, rubbing my back.

I wipe my tears away. "Did you know the reason why I marry him?" I ask him while sniffing. He nods slowly.

"Is it the only reason why you marry him?" he asks me, and it catches me off guard.

I shake my head. " I think I love him before we get married. I can't explain how but it's like he's the only one that makes me smile, gives me air to breathe, and gives me reasons to live. Your son means more than to me than my own life," I say with pride before I wipe another tear.

"That's good to know because he feels the same way too. He called his mother last night, and he was upset, and when we laughed at him because you kicked him out of your apartment, he cussed a lot, and he never did that if he wasn't that mad. Give him another chance, Abby. It'll work, honey. Trust me, and believe in your heart."

I nod at him.

"Meet my brother, darling." Jules takes my hand and introduces me to Peter and Brenda--Trix and Pat's parents.
