Members of the Quirk family scattered across the venue immediately stopped socializing

Yet, it turned out that Owen’s illegitimate child was almost the same age as Roland. This was simply too mind–blowing. 

Evian and Rosalie happened to see Rosalie setting the new bride down the stairs, his face beaming with joy and satisfaction as though he hadn’t a care in the world. 

Meanwhile, Christopher was outside and saw Ethan leisurely making his way back. 

It’s no wonder he looks weird. Did he get surgery after Roland ruined his face? 

But it’s not like Roland even knows this guy is his father’s illegitimate son, so why would he hit him? 

Besides, given Roland’s personality, he’d never act so rashly even if he were to find out the truth. It’s not the illegitimate child’s fault for being born, after all. Roland’s actually pretty compassionate when it comes to stuff like this..

her. 

The woman was utterly shocked after hearing such a piece of juicy gossip, so much so that she didn’t notice Alexander’s reaction. 

Isabella: It was Ethan who bullied Shaha during high school, and Roland saved her! So how could Sasha possibly.. 

The Quirks: Was she threatened or coerced? Oh, the poor girl. That would’ve been a nightmare. 

Alexander: That doesn’t add up. Given Roland’s status compared to Ethan’s, there was no way Sasha would’ve been bullied to such an extent. Roland could’ve completely dominated Ethan as long as Sasha spoke up. 

Isabella: Blackmail! Ethan must’ve had something to use against Sasha. That’s the only reason Sasha would… 

Isabella had always seen Sasha as a timid girl, so she couldn’t comprehend how the latter could possibly be carrying Ethan’s child. For a moment, Isabella wondered if there were any hidden details she was unaware of leaving her feeling like she didn’t have the full story 

She began to scrutinize the details. 

Isabella: There was no coercion, no blackmail, no… Ugh. 

She fell silent. 

The Quirk family eagerly anticipated more gossip, only to be left in suspense. 

So, what on earth happened? 

The silence is killing me! 

Then came a gasp of astonishment from Isabella’s heart. 

Isabella: Roland, you really are the most unfortunate soul in the universe! 

The hearts of the Quirk family members began to race. 

Isabella: Why did you interfere? She actually wanted to be treated that way! 

The Quirks were at a loss for words as reality shattered all their preconceptions. 

Could it be… Could it be that Sasha actually welcomed and enjoyed all the bullying? 

Isn’t this a mental illness? 

Isabella: Back then, Sasha had only recently started school when she accidentally spilled water on Ethan and immediately drew his attention. Her shabby clothes and quiet demeanor, coupled with the lack of parental supervision, only fueled Ethan’s arrogance. There were no boundaries when it came to the torment, it swiftly escalated to physical abuse, with punches and kicks becoming a regular occurrence. 

Isabella: At first, Sasha would complain to the teacher about his bullying. But the more Ethan was lectured, the more he retaliated. Eventually, their classmates chose to isolate Sasha out of fear, adopting an every

man for himself attitude. It wasn’t until Roland, a first–year senior then, accidentally witnessed Ethan attacking Sasha with a group of younger girls. Roland, being the righteous person he was, immediately stepped in to help. He took Sasha to the school infirmary, helped treat the injuries, asked about the circumstances, and went to the principal for help. He was determined to see the situation through to the end. Eventually, Ethan was asked to bring his parents to school. 

The Quirk family was utterly confused. Wasn’t this a classic case of a hero saving the damsel in distress? 

But still, even if Sasha wouldn’t necessarily fall for the hero, there’s no way she could ever love her tormentor… right? 

Isabella: At that time. Sasha harbored a mix of fear and resentment toward Ethan while being grateful for Roland’s help. Yet, after the school had dealt with the incident, she happened to stumble. upon Ethan conversing with Owen on campus. At that point, she only knew that man was Ethan’s father. She didn’t know he was actually Roland’s father too. The man harshly reprimanded Ethan, even going as far as to slap him. He even warned him, “Remember your status as an illegitimate child. If you cause any more trouble, I’ll have you sent away!” Then, Ethan attempted to call him ‘Dad‘, only to be harshly silenced. 

The Quirk family members were left in a state of confusion. Okay, and? How does all this relate to Sasha’s 

affection for Ethan? 

Isabella: Once Owen had left, Ethan began to cry in the rain. It was at that moment he appeared as helpless as a child to Sasha. An indescribable compassion then urged her to step forward, umbrella in hand, to shield him from the rain. At first glance, Ethan grew hostile and even had the intention of hitting her to make her leave. Yet, she remained silent, looking at him with pity. Ultimately, he broke down, embracing her and crying for a long time. Then, in a fit of emotional release, he impulsively kissed her. She resisted at first, but eventually, she seemed to have been tamed and stopped struggling. And just like that, Sasha found a place for Ethan in her heart. 

The Quirks: How should I put this…. Is this some sort of coming–of–age, campus heartache literature? Okay, so after that happened, they decided to embark on some campus romance. But how did Roland get dragged into all this? 

Isabella: Despite having shared such an intimate moment, Ethan found himself feeling embarrassed afterward. He wished to erase all memories of that day, considering he had never held any high regard for Sasha in the first place. Sasha’s personality wasn’t one to demand outcomes in matters of the heart either, so on the surface, their relationship remained unchanged. 

Isabella: Ethan was a bit rebellious by nature and yearned to compete with Roland for their father’s attention. So, since Roland wanted to protect Sasha, Ethan decided to retaliate even more fiercely. 

Isabella: However, at that time, Roland had his own issues to deal with. He also thought that the previous lesson had been enough and that Roland wouldn’t cause any more trouble. In addition, Sasha couldn’t bear the thought of Ethan actually getting expelled, so she willingly tolerated his violent behavior and kept it a secret from Roland. 

Isabella: Yet, once Ethan noticed that Roland wasn’t paying Sasha much attention anymore, he lost interest in her and began pursuing women who were interested in Roland. As a result, Sasha gradually began to feel neglected and anxious. She then started subconsciously revealing her inner turmoil to Roland and displaying signs of emotional distress in his presence. Naturally, it didn’t take long for him to notice that something was amiss.
