Goodbye, Mr. Ex: I've Remarried Mr. Right novel Chapter 1947

It was 4 a.m., and Debra felt exhaustion creeping in.

She pulled out her phone and texted Marion, curious about how things were going on his end.

Oddly, Marion took forever to reply.

"That's weird," she muttered.

"What's up?" Erica asked, sitting in front of the mirror.

"Marion's taking ages to text back," Debra replied.

Ten minutes had passed, and there was nothing. He usually replied in seconds.

Erica tensed up. "Could it be that things went wrong on their side?"

"I don't think so," Debra said. "Randy might be a mess sometimes, but he wouldn't screw up his big day."

To be safe, she called Marion.

The line was busy for ages, then went unanswered.

"What the hell?" she mumbled.

She decided to dial again, giving Marion another chance. If he didn't pick up, he'd be in deep trouble when he got home.

But before she could press the button, Marion called her.

"What's going on? Why'd you take so long to answer? Is something wrong?"

Debra shook her head. "Randy says it's fine. He and Marion are just preparing gifts for the bridesmaids."

"Takes that long?" Erica said.

Marion used to answer Debra's calls instantly. But this time, the line was busy.

"Something's fishy," Erica muttered, rubbing her chin. "Randy just couldn't handle anything without trouble. I'm calling him."

"Hold up." Debra grabbed her arm. "What if Randy's planning some big romantic surprise? Calling him now will ruin it."

Erica thought about it. "Fair point."

She decided to give Randy a chance.
