Goodbye, Mr. Ex: I've Remarried Mr. Right novel Chapter 1928

Debra hid behind Cecile and Dylan Potter, unfazed by Jordan's threats.

With the adults around, Jordan wouldn't dare touch her.

Jordan stomped his feet. "Mom, Dad, you're gonna spoil her rotten. All she does is boss me around and never respect me."

"You're older. It's only natural that you look out for her," Cecile said. Be a man and own up. You started it."

"What? You're joking. With you two around, who'd dare touch her?" he argued.

Dylan and Cecile exchanged looks, shaking their heads.

"Andrew protects you, and even my parents side with you. Happy now?" Jordan sulked.

Debra just stuck out her tongue at him.

Frustrated, Jordan stormed into the study. "I'm done."

"What's wrong?" Andrew asked, sitting with his usual gentle smile.

"What else? It's Debra. Mom and Dad always take her side, saying I bully her," Jordan complained. "Are you really marrying her? I don't want her as my sister-in-law."

"Why don't you like her?"

"I just don't. I hate how she acts like she's above me." Jordan looked away.

Technically, he and Debra had grown up together.

But his parents worried she'd get picked on, so they held him back a year after kindergarten. He ended up in her class.

He felt cheated and argued with Debra about it.

He made her cry once. After that, he never brought it up again.

Debra was a doll-like beauty even as a kid. Plenty of boys in class had crushes on her.

In high school, love letters for her never stopped. Jordan threw them all in the trash.

When other guys tried to get close to her, his first thought was, 'You think you're good enough?'
