Goodbye, Mr. Ex: I've Remarried Mr. Right novel Chapter 1922

"What do you want?" I asked.

"If I said I'm here to make you a star, would you believe me?" Debra replied.

She tore up my old contract and offered better terms. Her eyes were full of determination and sincerity.

I'd seen a lot of eyes, but none like hers.

My plan to leave Frazier Entertainment was already set. One call, and everything would be ready.

Her offer made me hesitate. It was generous enough, and the whole thing seemed interesting.

After some thought, I gave her my answer. "Alright, I'm in."

She seemed relieved.

After Debra left, another agency invited me to join them. I turned them down, curious to see how Debra would make me a star.

Days passed, and she surprised me.

When Sean Chandler got into trouble, the company pushed hard to promote me.

The Frazier Entertainment I saw later was different from before. Debra was impressive, easily clearing out those dead weights.

It was like she knew what was coming, and I couldn't help but dig into her background.

But her history was clean as ever. Eventually, I gave up investigating. Maybe she was just that smart.

Oddly, though she was younger than me, she often looked at me like I was a kid.

My identity was fake. My college records were fake. Even my age in the files was fake.

My acting was flawless. She never saw through me.

But I'd been a star for so long that I started forgetting who I really was.

I wasn't some movie star. I didn't have a tragic backstory. I wasn't the perfect Michael Austin everyone saw.

I became a star for a reason. I had my own path to follow.

Somewhere along the way, that path started to shift. I kept moving forward, but Debra was like a butterfly leading me.

I lost my direction, but there was light ahead. It was a path I'd never seen.

She told me she'd take me internationally. Enoch had said the same thing.

But one path led to light, the other to darkness.
