Punishing evil should be done by adults rather than kids.
Drake cringed, clearing his throat. "Not me. It was probably Solomon. They often hang out together. That kid is trouble."
"You led her astray," Debra snorted. "We'll settle this later."
Drake sighed, getting the short end of the stick.
...
Night fell.
Lillian and Solomon slipped out of the house. School was usually out now, but the kidnapping case had let them leave early.
This was prime time for vendors to lurk near campus.
"Hurry!" Lillian urged him.
Solomon shifted uncomfortably. "If you're investigating, do it openly. Sneaking around just makes you look suspicious."
He grabbed her collar and lifted her like a kitten.
Passersby stared suspiciously. Clad in their school uniforms, the two were skulking outside the school gate, looking every bit like troublemakers trying to skip class.
"What're those two doing?"
She scanned the area, squinting suspiciously. 'Shady vendors don't just stand out in the open. They're disguised, slipping stuff to the students quietly.'
Her theory felt airtight, but Solomon's eyes landed on a bustling convenience store 200 meters from school. All the customers were male students.
"Look at that guy," Lillian said, pointing to a hunched man in his forties pushing a bike.
"If you paid attention after school, you'd know that's just a parent."
"But he's shifty. Gotta be up to no good."
"There's no bike lane here. He's just watching for cars, okay?"
