Goodbye, Mr. Ex: I've Remarried Mr. Right novel Chapter 1797

Fermin put down his pen and rubbed his temples. "Come in."

Time hadn't hit him hard. He just looked steadier than before.

"Take a look. Enoch's old stash." Fermin took off his glasses and tossed a bag of powder onto the desk.

Debra picked it up. Even through the plastic, that familiar scent hit her.

"Where did it come from?" she asked.

"Inside channels," Fermin said, skeptical. "You guys really wiped out Illuminati's stock back then? I'm starting to think you were messing with me."

He had trusted them to handle it, so he'd stayed out of the aftermath.

Now, 20 years later, this junk had resurfaced.

"Wildfire never burns out," Debra said bitterly.

They'd crushed black-market rings for years, but greed kept spawning new ones. Revival was inevitable.

Liza burst in, holding more powder. "I found this at school. What the hell? Wasn't this destroyed years ago?"

Debra stared. "School?"

Liza nodded. She taught law at a university now and stumbled on students passing it around.

"They thought it was some trendy sugar snack," she said. "Some smoked it with tobacco. I knew it was off, so I grabbed it."

Fermin inspected it. "Diluted. Just calm you down with no hallucinations."
