Goodbye, Mr. Ex: I've Remarried Mr. Right novel Chapter 1736

In the apartment, time crawled.

Chace stared at Debra, who was sprawled motionless on the sofa.

His mind rewound half an hour when he brought back some incense from the valley. It was a secret between them, kept even from Oscar.

He wasn't sure if this was right, but back when Debra agreed to save the Odom family, she'd set terms.

If she needed help, he'd jump in. No questions asked.

In fact, when the cleanup job landed on him, he knew she'd planned it. She wanted the Illuminati's incense.

When he had gotten it, he had warned her of its potential harm, but he knew he couldn't sway her.

His only job now was to snap her out of it if things went south.

The clock ticked. Cicadas screeched outside. Maple leaves glowed red.

The campus buzzed with hyped-up college kids.

"Debra, someone's here for you." A voice faded in and out, yanking her back.

A girl in a school uniform pointed at a woman by the gate.

A few days ago, some punks had cornered her in an alley. Shelia had swooped in to save her.

She had been grateful, saying that she studied nearby and that they could hang out sometime.

"Who is this lady? Your friend?" A real estate heiress sidled up, sizing up Shelia. "You are from Seamar City High, right? I've got tons of pals there. What's your name?"

Shelia smiled at her. "Shelia Miles."

"Oh, the Miles. You're big names around here. So, are you aiming for Arcane Academy next year?"

"I..." Shelia perked up, glancing at Debra.
