Goodbye, Mr. Ex: I've Remarried Mr. Right novel Chapter 1728

"Mom, look, it's Dad."

In winter, a boy pointed at a shiny car up ahead.

A kind-faced man stepped out and walked up with a smile. "I'm here to pick you up."

Drake jolted awake from the scene.

"Drake, you okay? Got a fever?" A richly dressed woman patted his shoulder. "Remember to get along with your new classmates. Make friends and don't act up."

Drake blinked, finding himself in a fancy car. The streets rolled by outside.

"Mom?" He stared, stunned.

Mary Lowe jumped. "What's with you today? Look, Arcane Academy's top-tier. Once you're there..."

Her voice faded in and out.

Drake's head pounded. He opened his eyes to the dark corridor.

"Hey, quit spacing out." Randy smacked his head.

Drake tensed, looking around.

Randy held a nose plug. "Debra said the smell here is off, so we're all wearing these. Don't wanna breathe in junk. What were you zoning out for?"

Drake grabbed the plug. The corridor flickered, overlapping with Seamar City's bustling streets.

"Drake, are you with me?" Mary's voice echoed again, soft and warm.

Drake had been unconscious since the day in the valley. William said that his vitals were fine and that he was just a bit malnourished.

Debra glanced at him, setting down a bowl of water to hydrate him.

His eyes snapped open. She jumped, dropping the bowl.

"You..." she stammered.

Drake's face lit up with joy. He bolted upright and hugged her.

"I..." he started.

"Hey, why are you holding Marion's wife?" William's voice boomed from the door.
