Goodbye, Mr. Ex: I've Remarried Mr. Right novel Chapter 1715

"That's..." Debra recognized the drug.

"This," Enoch said, lifting the syringe, "is the culmination of the Lowe family's work over the years. One injection, and you become a carrier. It spreads like wildfire—one to ten, ten to a hundred, a thousand... infinite. A single sneeze can infect everyone within a 30-foot radius. In a decade, humanity's emotional capacity will be wiped out. People will simply work, relentlessly driving progress with no distractions. We'll propel civilization to new heights, reach the farthest corners of the universe, and ultimately meet the creator."

"You're insane!" Debra spat. "No wonder you've got labs tucked in this valley—secret and safe from your own plague. You wanna turn everyone into emotionless drones slaving away for you? You're a heartless bastard."

"Big moves need sacrifices." Enoch shrugged. "You wanna make history, you can't be soft."

He raised a hand. "Let me introduce an old pal."

Debra tensed as someone stepped out from behind the curtain. Everyone froze when they saw him.

Drake stood next to Enoch, blank-faced, like a puppet.

"Drake!" Debra shouted, but he didn't blink.

But Drake just stood there, looking down at them with a poker face.

"Guess he's not in the mood," Enoch said, sitting back. "Now that everyone is here, hand over the gemstone."

"You turned him into this, and you still want the stone?" Debra shot back. "Give me the antidote first."

"Antidote?" Enoch shook his finger. "No such thing. Any medical student knows nerve damage like that is permanent. There is no fix."
