Goodbye, Mr. Ex: I've Remarried Mr. Right novel Chapter 1599

In the past hour, Lara had called her countless times.

Debra wasn't surprised. Instead, she calmly called back. Lara picked up quickly. Her voice carried a hint of apology.

"Fermin came and killed all the servants. I didn't expose Miss Eaton, but I had to send her back. I'm really sorry."

"You don't need to apologize. Fermin's a tough one. It's good enough that you kept yourself and me out of it."

"Still, I feel bad about screwing up the task."

"By the way, why did he kill everyone and spare you?" Debra's question cut sharply.

Lara seemed ready for it. "Maybe because I'm the head of the Sharp family. That's what I think."

Debra wasn't sold on that answer. "How did he track her down so fast?"

Lara's eyes flickered, but Debra didn't press. Instead, she said, "I've got some business back in Seamar City. I'm sorry for the trouble."

After the call ended, Lara stared at the screen, wondering if Debra had found out the truth. The question lingered in her mind for only a moment. Then she had her answer.

"I should've killed her," Drake sighed. "Nipped that problem in the bud."

Debra shot him down. "Don't kid yourself. Even if you could go back, you'd still keep her around as a pawn. It was a trap you couldn't escape."

Drake swallowed the bitter pill. "How'd you figure out she was trouble?"

"Simple. By making out the one who benefited most after you went down."

"The Trennery family?"
