Fermin admitted, "I did."
Liza's heart sank as she realized he was responsible for the deaths of the Sharp family members.
"Can't you stop killing people?" Liza asked softly, her voice tinged with pleading.
Usually, Fermin couldn't resist her when she acted this way.
But this time, his tone was serious. "Liza, this world is brutal. If you don't kill, you'll be killed. I did this to protect our family and the thousands of employees who depend on us. I did this for you."
He seemed to regret his words and quickly changed the subject. "Don't go anywhere recently. I don't care what happens to anyone else, but I will make sure you're safe."
Liza was confused. Their family's power was immense. No one could challenge them. Only the Illuminati could pose a threat.
...
At the D&M club, Debra had dismantled Fermin's operations. Josh handed her confidential files they had obtained from the Illuminati members.
Debra reviewed the list. It included industry elites, entertainment veterans, business tycoons, and even some nouveau riche. Almost everyone with money and power there had ties to the Illuminati.
"Got it," Josh replied.
Debra rushed out of the nightclub and drove straight to the Eaton Mansion.
As she pulled up to the gate, the guards tensed, recognizing her as the one who had been causing trouble for the Eaton family lately.
"I'm here to see Mr. Eaton Sr.," Debra declared firmly. "You'd better let me in."
Though she was alone, her presence was commanding. The guards didn't dare stop her.
