Goodbye, Mr. Ex: I've Remarried Mr. Right novel Chapter 1579

"Mr. Eaton Sr., your godson..." the captain faltered.

"He was attacked last night," Bert interrupted. "Instead of helping, you arrested him. What are you up to, huh?"

The captain froze. "Michael Austin is your godson?"

"My son is ungrateful," Bert snorted. "Can't I take in a godson?"

The captain fidgeted. "I'm so sorry. We didn't know your relationship. Otherwise, we wouldn't have made such a stupid mistake. Please, rest assured. As long as we confirm he wasn't involved in anything illegal, we'll release him right away."

He sounded righteous, but it was clear he had no intention of letting Michael go anytime soon.

Just then, an officer rushed outside, unaware of the situation. He went straight to the captain and reported, "Sir, Michael passed out. Should we take him to the hospital?"

The air was instantly charged with tension. Bert gazed at the captain without saying a word, but the latter immediately felt the pressure.

Sweat dripped down his back. He shot a glare at the officer and snapped, "He's a suspect, not a criminal. Who let you mistreat him? Get him to the hospital now!"

The officer didn't dare to defy him.

"No need for that," Bert said coolly. "Michael got hurt under your watch. I will be demanding an explanation. Now, release him immediately, or you can hand in your resignation."

The captain barely had time to react before Bert's men stormed the station. Within minutes, Michael was taken away.

"Y-Yes, Mr. Eaton Sr. came in person." The captain was sweating bullets.

Fermin let out a faint chuckle. "Not surprising. When my dad wants someone, no one can stop him."

The captain heaved a sigh of relief, but Fermin continued, "Still, this shows your incompetence? I don't need useless people."

Before the captain could react, he raised his gun and pulled the trigger.

The gunshot rang out. The officer collapsed to the ground in terror.

Fermin glanced at the dead body and said flatly, "Call it a line-of-duty death. I'll cover the pension."
