Even though Jordan had put it mildly, Drake's pride was still injured.
His name alone used to instill fear. The other big shots in Orkgate had to yield to him.
But with Fermin's interference, the power dynamics had shifted. Although Drake had regained control of the Lowe family, they were facing reforms.
Orkgate was now more chaotic than ever. On the surface, everything looked calm, but behind the scenes, there was a storm brewing. Everyone was eying the throne.
"I'll go back now," Drake said suddenly.
Debra frowned. "Kale, stop him."
Kale immediately stepped in to block him.
Drake's expression darkened. "Your boss is me, not her."
"Boss, you can't go out now," Kale said.
The people from the Illuminati were probably waiting outside the villa for Drake to come out and step into their trap.
"Lara is still there," Debra chimed in. "The Sharp family has some influence in Orkgate now, and the Trennery family wouldn't dare to act recklessly. They couldn't be so stupid as to attack me at their party and mess with your people."
Drake calmed down a little. "That's true. Those trash wouldn't dare challenge me."
"So, don't worry. Nothing will happen," she said. "I'll be staying there for a day and see what they are up to. If things go south, I've got your people to back me up. If the Trennery family doesn't want to be removed from Orkgate, they won't make a move against me."
Debra fell silent, and he continued, "If you run into him at the banquet, you'll need to keep your emotions in check."
"Don't worry. My emotions aren't as unstable as you think," Debra replied.
She'd been trying not to think about Marion these past few days, and he hadn't reached out to her.
When Jordan mentioned that Marion would be at the banquet, she felt a stir of emotion because she hadn't seen him for a while.
"Debra," Drake called out.
When she turned, Drake slipped something into her hand. Before she could get a good look at it, he continued, "Open it when you get to Orkgate. This could save your life in emergencies."
