Marion returned from overseas seven days later.
In those few days, rumors about his and Debra's failing marriage had reached a fever pitch.
Some said Debra had become numb to the idea of marriage, spending every day with hot escorts. Others claimed that she had secretly been keeping a toy boy at home and that she had started a romantic relationship with Jordan.
All kinds of topics about her flooded the internet.
At noon, Debra came downstairs from the second floor, biting into a piece of bread as she looked at her phone, laughing so hard she could hardly stop.
"Someone calls you a homewrecker. Want to see it?" she said, handing her phone to him.
It had to be said, this generation of netizens knew how to dig up dirt.
Many claimed to be students from Arcane Academy, fully aware of the relationship between Debra and Jordan. They uncovered old photos from two years ago when the two often hung out together and even that famous picture of Debra coming out of a nightclub, wearing Jordan's clothes.
Back then, the PR teams from the Potter and Nichols families had successfully suppressed the news. Now it had resurfaced.
Once these kinds of rumors spread, it seemed like everything had a clear explanation.
Jordan was not amused at all. "You've had your fun these days. Isn't it time you gave me an explanation?"
Even with all the chaos happening outside, Debra wasn't worried, and neither had she asked him to take down the news. Instead, she let the speculation run wild.
"I've told you everything," she said, sitting on the couch.
"Where are you going?"
"To live up to my reputation as a homewrecker."
...
At the airport, Marion stepped off the plane, looking tired but determined.
He'd never been one to disguise himself, and he had no idea how big the news about him and Debra had blown up back home.
As soon as he walked through the terminal, curious eyes followed him, and camera lenses directed at him.
