"It came from Fermin." Marion handed her an invitation.
The black-and-gold card was simple, with only the time and place written on it.
Debra had seen Garland's handwriting before, but she never expected Fermin and Garland, both being in the same body, would have such wildly different styles.
"He wants to meet us at this estate tonight?" Debra was skeptical. "Do you think it could be a trap?"
"Don't worry. Even if it is, we've got people ready to handle it," Marion reassured her.
Unlike Garland, Fermin had zero credibility with them. They needed to be fully prepared.
Debra nodded. "Let's go then. I have a lot to discuss with him."
...
In the evening, a black Maybach pulled up outside the Bernard Mansion.
It was sent by Fermin. The invitation and the pickup clearly showed he had been watching them since they arrived overseas.
Debra and Marion got in the car, with a dozen stretched Lincolns tailing them.
Then a hundred or so guards could deal with all kinds of difficult situations.
When they arrived at the place, the butler was already waiting outside.
He greeted Debra and Marion as they got out of the car.
"According to Mr. Eaton, the talk may take a while," he said politely. "Mr. Houston, you men can come inside and rest."
It was the first time Debra got a close look at Fermin.
When Garland was around, he was always loud and brash. Though he had a stunningly handsome face, his aura was lacking in comparison.
Fermin, on the other hand, wore a black suit and gold-rimmed glasses. His narrow eyes carried a hint of calculation. His movements were elegant and noble.
At a glance, she could feel the danger behind his smile.
"Mrs. Houston?" Fermin waved his hand, bringing Debra out of her thoughts. "Staring at me like that might make Mr. Houston jealous."
"I'm just impressed by your temperament," Debra replied smoothly. "Exactly what I imagined someone like you would be."
Compared to Garland, Fermin was more like the heir to the Eaton family.
