Late into the night, Debra leaned against the head of the bed, waiting for Marion to come back after washing his hands.
But then, the showering sound echoed from the bathroom.
After a while, he walked out. His hair was still damp, and the bathrobe hung loosely on him, revealing his toned muscles and perfect V-shaped lines.
The dim light from the bedside lamp reminded Debra of the banquet earlier.
Her face flushed. She instinctively reached for the light switch to break the mood, but Marion grabbed her wrist.
His palm was warm, and under the soft light, there was a glint of desire in his deep eyes.
"I'm clean," he croaked, having washed off the scent of blood.
In fact, before leaving the castle, he had already changed into a new jacket, worried that Debra might catch the disgusting smell of blood.
"Alright," she said shyly, a bit overwhelmed by his strong desire.
Marion smelled faintly fresh. Different from his usual tobacco, this scent was clean and pure.
"Don't hurt yourself again, alright?" he murmured, leaning in to brush a strand of hair from her face.
He pecked her on the eyes, and his kiss moved slowly down, landing near her lips.
But just as he was about to close his eyes, images of him killing those people flooded his mind.
The kiss abruptly stopped.
Even though he had cleaned his body, he couldn't wash away the filth in his soul.
Those people were right. He was a madman who didn't deserve Debra's love.
The butler, watching the surveillance footage, spoke. "Sir, I think Mr. Fermin Eaton has regained his senses. Maybe we should let him out?"
The surveillance room was nearly transparent, with cameras covering every corner. Fermin's every move was under watch.
Bert, sitting in front of the monitors, furrowed his brows. He didn't want Fermin to suffer, either, but the one locked in that room was a trapped beast.
Suddenly, the screen flickered with static.
Bert shot to his feet. "What's going on?"
A panicked guard rushed in. "Someone's broken in."
The static quickly faded. Fermin turned to the camera and flashed a mysterious smile.
