"Spill it. What does Juan send you here for?" Erica demanded, shoving Garland onto the sofa.
Garland sweated nervously. "You're mistaken. Juan? I barely even know him."
Randy crossed his arms. "Come on. We're not deaf. Don't try to weasel your way out of this."
Seeing no way out, Garland clenched his teeth. "Fine. I'll tell you. Honestly, I've been suspicious of Juan's intentions for a while. As your friend, I decided to do something about it. I got close to him on purpose, trying to figure out what he was up to."
Erica narrowed her eyes. "Really?"
"Of course," Garland replied proudly. "I'm the CEO of the Eaton Group. This identity commands respect from Juan."
Randy was skeptical. "So, you're not working for him?"
"Come on. Juan doesn't run the Nichols Group anymore," Garland reasoned. "Why would I take orders from him? Does that even make sense?"
Randy blinked, processing the logic.
"You have a point," Erica said, exchanging looks with Randy.
Garland was terrified. The call had come at a bad time.
"Juan is calling?" Erica raised an eyebrow.
It hadn't been three minutes since they contacted each other. It had to be something important.
Erica smirked, "Forget about the messages. Answer the call. We'll know if you've betrayed us or not."
Garland had no choice but to answer the phone. After a brief silence, Juan's calm voice came through. "About the deal we discussed, can it be finalized in the next couple of days?"
