The second the thought crossed her mind, Olivia Bennett felt like her soul had just left her body.
She didn’t even remember that man was standing right next to her. Instead, she just shuffled away, completely dazed and hollow.
Evan’s words died in his throat, leaving him worried and uneasy.
Did I say something wrong?
He honestly just wanted to comfort her, seeing how devastated she looked.
With a soft sigh, Evan turned back toward the bistro.
“I’ll be right there,” he said into his phone.
Ethan Carter was already stepping out onto the sidewalk, ending his call with a nod.
Evan glanced at him, curious. “Everything okay, Mr. Carter?”
Ethan kept walking, his voice clipped. “We’re heading to the hospital.”

“You’re pregnant.”
Olivia stood outside the hospital, staring at the test results in her hand, the doctor’s words echoing in her head.
Pregnant.
She was actually pregnant.
She hadn’t wanted this, not at all. That night was something she’d been trying desperately to block out.
But now, thinking about this little life—part of her, no matter what—she found herself unable to let go.
She was all alone, after all. The Bennetts had never really accepted her as family.
She’d pretty much given up on the idea of marriage. This baby might just be her only real family in the world.
Keep it, or not?
Her fingers crumpled the test results, the crisp paper now wrinkled in her grip.
“Mr. Carter, are we—” Evan started, but Ethan suddenly stopped.
Evan looked up, following Ethan’s gaze, and saw Olivia standing at the entrance.
