From a Wrong Turn to Mr. Right novel Chapter 11

Ethan Carter was innocent. Olivia didn’t want to drag him into her mess.

But Ethan just raised an eyebrow, looking completely unbothered. “You’re not going to mess up my life,” he said with a grin. “Even if something does happen, I’ll handle it. Don’t worry about me.”

“But—”

“No buts.” Ethan’s gaze was so intent. Honestly, in this moment, he was thinking it was a stroke of genius to go get their marriage license right now.

Any longer, and he might have to put out a nationwide missing person’s report for her.

Before she could react, he slid the documents out of her hands. “Relax. I’ve got this.”

Olivia paused, a little stunned. It was the first time they’d ever met, but somehow his simple “I’ve got this” made her want to trust him. For a moment, she actually felt safe.

She found herself nodding before she really knew what she was doing.

The car rolled smoothly into a gated community, winding between huge brick houses and perfectly trimmed lawns, finally stopping in front of a massive mansion.

Olivia stared out the window, utterly speechless.

This neighborhood was the most expensive in all of Cabinda—think Greenwich, Connecticut, but even more exclusive. Even her father Mason Bennett, who would do anything to prove he had the best of everything—had never shelled out for a place here.

“You…” Olivia finally looked over at Ethan, suspicion and disbelief in her eyes. She was starting to realize this man was anything but ordinary. “Who are you, really?”

Ethan smiled slightly. “Guess I never properly introduced myself. I’m Ethan Carter.”

Ethan Carter.

Of course—she was an idiot! She remembered now, the guy at the gate had called him “Mr. Carter.” There weren’t that many Carters in Cabinda, and only one Carter family that everyone talked about.

The Carters were basically the Rockefellers of Cabinda—old money, the top of the food chain, the family everyone envied.

And Ethan Carter, as head of the family, was the man everyone in town dreamed of impressing.

She never could’ve imagined that, after one night of bad luck, she’d not only end up in his bed—but also pregnant with his child.

For a second, Olivia didn’t know whether to laugh or cry.

No wonder he acted so untouchable.

Honestly, who’d dare cross him?
