Forsaking the Years of Longing novel Chapter 77

Love Story3-Chapter 1

New York, Anderson Hospital.

"Ms. Walker, are you certain about undergoing hypnosis? Once the procedure is done, you'll lose all your memories and forget everyone."

Daphne Walker sat in the private consultation room, her eyes dimming.

Forget everyone, including Matthew?

Matthew Roberts, CEO of the Roberts Group, a legendary figure in the international business scene across New York.

He was also Daphne's husband.

For the past three years, everyone in New York knew Daphne as the enviable Mrs. Roberts.

Daphne loved the rare Juliet roses.

Matthew spared no expense, even spending billions, to create a Juliet rose garden just for her.

Daphne loved traveling.

Matthew would drop everything to accompany her to see the auroras in Antarctica or vacation in the Maldives, enjoying the beaches on the islands.

Daphne adored jewelry.

Matthew invited renowned international jewelry designers to craft unique pieces tailored to her taste and style.

Whatever Daphne desired, Matthew would go to any length to make it happen.

But in just six months, all of it turned to nothing, never to be the same again.

"Ms. Walker, have you made up your mind to forget everything from your past?"

The doctor's voice pulled Daphne out of her thoughts. Staring at the photo on her phone's lock screen, she hesitated.

Just then, her phone rang. Seeing the caller ID, she quickly answered, "Hello..."

"Daphne, where did you put the diamond ring I gave you before?

Charlotte mentioned she saw you wearing it last time and liked it."

The man's cold, indifferent voice came through the phone, making Daphne's heart sink.

The "Charlotte" Matthew mentioned was Charlotte Green -his childhood family friend and the person he had cherished for years.

"You do realize it was a gift for me, right?"

Daphne tried to remain calm, but there was a hint of sadness in her voice.

Daphne clutched her aching chest, murmuring to herself, "In ten days, once I've forgotten him, it won't hurt here anymore."

The moonlight was cold and indifferent; no one could respond.

Daphne hailed a taxi and went home.

Returning to Cloudy Villa.

Daphne was holding onto the spiral staircase, about to go upstairs when she saw Charlotte happily running down.

"Charlotte, slow down, be careful not to fall."

Matthew was chasing after her.

The three of them met eyes, and Daphne saw the tenderness in Matthew's gaze.

Then, Charlotte cheerfully raised her right hand and boasted, "Daphne, you're back! Matthew said he's locked me down!"

Daphne's eyes fell on Charlotte's finger.

At that moment, the dazzling square diamond was firmly placed on Charlotte's ring finger.

Just as Matthew had told her three years ago: "Daphne, you're locked down by me."
