Chapter 30
Ivan forced himself to calm down, sliding his identification documents across the desk to the nursing home administrator.
The administrator frowned, not bothering to look at the papers, and instead spread his hands apologetically.
"Sorry, sir, I cannot accommodate your request. Our nursing home has no available rooms for you to check into."
"Furthermore, from what I understand, you initially had no intention of staying here. This facility is intended for mental or physical healing. If you have problems to resolve, I suggest seeking other methods."
"And please refrain from lingering at the entrance for extended periods-it disrupts our operations and causes us significant inconvenience."
The administrator's refusal was blunt and merciless.
Ivan lowered his head and slowly walked out of the office.
As he passed through the hallway, he spotted Eva hurrying along with a box of supplies meant for the residents. She clearly intended to slip by unnoticed.
Unfortunately, things didn't go as she hoped - Ivan's sharp eyes caught her.
"Miss Eva, please wait a moment!"
Eva quickened her pace, clutching the box tightly.
But Ivan jogged to catch up, blocking her path.
Eva looked down at the man before her with wary eyes, her tone cautious.
"Sir, what do you want?"
Ivan raised his hand, palm down, trying his best to appear non- threatening.
Eva nodded, briefly explaining the circumstances before leaving the items for Linda and Rachel and heading to her next delivery.
Linda took the card, letting out a quiet laugh.
"He'd rather believe I forgot his phone number than face the truth-that I simply don't want to call him."
Her smile slowly faded, replaced by a cool indifference.
"So, is that how he justified lying to me back then? That I'd rather believe his lies than see the truth?"
Rachel wrinkled her nose in disgust as she eyed the card.
"So, are you going to meet him?"
