Forced Into Marriage: My Husband’s Too Mean novel Chapter 722

"Oh, right! Look at my old brain getting senile...hahaha...I forgot such an important thing!" Mr. Zoltan knocked his forehead and shook his head as he smiled bitterly.

He looked at Lindsey, then at Mr. Cooper while his fingers were stroking his white beard. He chuckled and said, "I'm an old man and don’t fit in at such a lively occasion. You youngsters enjoy your time here. I'll take my leave."

After that, Mr. Zoltan patted Mr. Cooper on the shoulder. This friendly gesture was seen by everyone present.

Lindsey was anxious because she had not finished what she wanted to say. She took her wine and called out to Mr. Zoltan. "Mr. Zoltan, wait..."

Although Mr. Zoltan was old, he walked quite fast. Lindsey’s heels limited her movements and she almost tripped over herself.

Suddenly, a large and strong hand grabbed Lindsey’s waist to support her. The man’s tone was also unconsciously nervous as he asked, “Are you alright?”

Before Lindsey returned to her senses, she heard that voice again that sounded a little reproachful this time. “Why are you in such a hurry? There’s no rush.”

Lindsey wanted to retort and thought, ‘Of course you’d say that since it’s not your business…’

However, the man's hand was still on her waist and the feeling through his glove was so strange that it made Lindsey stand up straight. She turned around and pushed him away. She did not know if she should thank him, so finally, she just said stiffly, "This business is very important to Denarius."

After a couple of minutes, Mr. Zoltan had already disappeared, so Lindsey just stomped her feet in frustration.

Since his retirement, Mr. Zoltan had spent most of his time abroad. After finally running into him, she did not even get the chance to talk to him.

Probably seeing her displeasure, Mr. Cheng lowered his voice and went closer to Lindsey. "What’s the matter? Perhaps I can help you to talk to Grandpa Zoltan."

"Forget it." Lindsey took a deep breath and did not want to say more.

There was not much of a crowd where they were, so the atmosphere was quiet for a while with only soft background music. Lindsey took a sip of the wine from her glass, looked at Mr. Cooper, and said after some thought, "I'm going to mingle around, bye."

The man in front of her paused for a moment before he gave a soft "mm".

A lot of people were looking at them, and Lindsey knew that they were all looking at Mr. Cooper. In just a few days, this mysterious wealthy businessman's story had been distorted into various versions and circulated in Atlantic City’s upper-class circles. Lindsey even overheard someone say that Mr. Cooper had a deformity, which was why he was so ashamed to show his face in public.

Even though Lindsey had never seen Mr. Cooper's face, she had a hunch that it was not as bad as those speculations.

After Lindsey left, Mr. Cooper was all alone in that area. He was wearing a mask, so he did not grab a wine glass nor did he take the initiative to socialize.

Only a few people who appeared to be his business partners came up to say hello, but they also came and left in a hurry.

Lindsey looked back after walking far away and found Mr. Cooper sitting alone on the sofa in the corner with his head hanging down, looking deep in thought.

He looked so lonely.

Something at the bottom of her heart suddenly stirred.

Just then, her line of sight was blocked, accompanied by a man's surprised voice, "Ms. Juhl!"

Lindsey wanted to find an excuse to leave early, so she had to tell Quentin.

However, before Lindsey could take a few steps, the lights in the hall suddenly dimmed, and the background music changed to a rhythmic slow dancing song.

Only then did Lindsey remember that there was a dance segment at this reception.

She stood frozen in place for a few seconds. After she regained her senses, she realized that the people around her were already coupled up and were moving their feet to the beat of the music.

Most of the men who came to the reception had brought their wives or female companions, so there were a lot of people on the dance floor.

She moved cautiously towards the door by feeling her way around the side. She then thought that she would just send Quentin a message later, but before she could take a few steps, she was suddenly grabbed by the wrist.

"Be careful." The leather gloves on her wrist felt weird that Lindsey turned her head back almost instantly, just in time to meet Mr. Cooper’s covered face that looked even more frightening in this dim environment.

‘Why is this person always appearing behind me?’ The large warm hand released her as soon as he touched her. He raised his chin gently and said, "That person almost hit you. Don't look down when you walk."

His voice mixed with the music had a unique tenderness.

‘I only did that because I wanted to slip away from this place and don’t wanna be noticed by people...’ Lindsey thought to herself.
