Forced Into Marriage: My Husband’s Too Mean novel Chapter 686

Mr. Carter was stunned. He did not expect Lindsey to mention this specifically. He hurriedly took out the small safe from his bag and handed it to Lindsey. "This is Mr. Guggenheim’s memento, so naturally, it belongs to you."

Lindsey was stung by the word "memento".

She thought she was going to lose it several times when she was downstairs today, but she miraculously finished everything. Until now when she heard the word "memento", she finally could not bear it any longer and hugged herself tightly.

The wound on her shoulder hurt. Lindsey could even feel the blood flowing out, staining her clothes. She could also smell the blood.

There was also an invisible wound at her chest. It felt like someone cut out a piece of her heart and the blood would not stop oozing out. The pain was so unbearable that she could not breathe.

The voices in her ears felt so distant as she hugged the safe tightly like she was holding onto the last bit of warmth of that man.

By the time Lindsey returned to her senses, she was already in the lounge within Zayn's office.

Emilia's voice sounded so shaky like she was the one who was injured. She helped Lindsey to take off her suit jacket and saw the large bloodstain on her shoulder, then suddenly screamed.

This was how Lindsey snapped back to reality. Lindsey was still holding the small safe so tightly that her fingertips were white. When she loosened her grip, a sharp soreness and numbness came from her fingers and wrist.

"Don't be afraid." Lindsey comforted Emilia. The two of them seemed to switch roles.

Lindsey thought that this thin and weak girl with slightly crooked teeth was scared of blood and would probably faint from fear.

However, after that scream, Emilia still carefully helped Lindsey to take off her shirt. Although Emilia’s face was pale, at least she did not pass out immediately.

The gauze shifted away from the wound, which made it look even more hideous and bloody. Emilia used tissues to try and stop the bleeding, but unfortunately, it did not help much.

When she saw that Lindsey did not look like she cared, Emilia forgot that Lindsey was now her boss and said in a crying tone, "Why aren’t you scared? No, no, we must rush to the hospital now!"

Before Lindsey could stop Emilia, Emilia helped Lindsey to put on her shirt and jacket, then rushed outside.

Half an hour later, Lindsey sat in the hospital that she got discharged from this morning and said with a helpless face, "It's really fine. That girl is just scaring herself. I know my body and I’m about to be late for the meeting later."

Quentin shook his head and looked at her with disapproving eyes. "The meeting has been postponed. We’ll arrange it after you recover."

Next to him, Shaun also looked at Lindsey intently. Lindsey sighed helplessly and compromised.

Shaun still had things to do, so he left first. Quentin was also in a hurry to leave, but Lindsey kept him there for a few minutes.

"These few days have been hard on you." Lindsey looked at Quentin's bloodshot eyes and his haggard face that was clearly exhausted from lack of sleep.

The two of them seemed to see their reflection in each other's eyes. There was no way to tell who was hurting more.

Quentin fished out a cigarette from his pocket, looked at Lindsey, and stuffed it back in. He was extraordinarily addicted to smoking these two days, almost to the point of no control.

"It's fine." He raised his eyebrows and wanted to smile like before, but the corners of his lips were no longer as relaxed as before, so his smile simply collapsed again, along with the playful words at the tip of his tongue. "It’s my job."

After that, both of them were silent for a while.

Quentin picked up his jacket he placed on the side and rolled up his shirt sleeves to his forearm. He nodded at Lindsey and said, "You should do a proper checkup. I’ll watch over the company for you, don’t worry."

He was probably fulfilling some agreement that he and Zayn had made before to give them polite and proper care.

It was the same place as last time, but this time, without the forensic doctor who was wearing glasses. Felipe personally brought out three boxes from inside.

Even though Lindsey had already been here once, she still felt that this corridor was a little too cold. She wanted to escape and her heart was screaming frantically to leave this place, but her feet did not move.

When they saw Felipe come out, the three of them turned their attention to him at the same time.

Sieben suddenly took a few steps forward and grabbed Felipe by the collar.

She looked behind Felipe, then looked at the small box he was holding and her eyes changed in an instant. "Didn’t you say you have his body? Where is it?"

Her voice carried a ruthlessness and surging anger.

Felipe was unfazed by her actions and calmly looked at her. He put the other two small wooden boxes in his hand aside and held up the other one alone.

"Since the body parts we salvaged were limited and a large portion has turned into ashes, my colleagues in the forensic department cremated the remaining body parts for the sake of the family."

Felipe was probably used to seeing death, so his voice was a little indifferent.

However, Sieben instantly exploded in front of him. She grabbed Felipe's shirt and almost lifted the man. "Who allowed you to cremate him?!"

Her eyes were red, and what she had suppressed all these days seemed to burst out in an instant.
