Finally, they arrived at Opal Suites. Lindsey almost jumped out of the car. She hastily said goodbye to Arthur just to be polite.
Lindsey did not bother to look behind her to see what Arthur's expression was because she felt like she was about to suffocate.
She rushed home and opened the door in a hurry. Sieben, who was sitting on the floor, looked up and caught the panic on Lindsey's face. She asked in surprise, "Lindsey, what's wrong?"
Lindsey shook her head and looked slightly tired as she walked over to sit down on the carpet beside Sieben. She reached out to pinch Sieben’s cheek and changed the topic. "Have you recovered yet?"
Sieben puffed up her cheeks so that Lindsey’s fingers slipped off her delicate and tender skin.
"I’m fine now!" Sieben blew a strand of hair in front of her forehead and looked so playful. "I’ve recovered yesterday, don't worry!"
Lindsey patted the top of her head, then kissed Dezi on the cheek. She asked him how his day was at school, then got up and went to the kitchen. After she got to the kitchen, she caught the limping Mrs. Wendy cooking and running about.
When Mrs. Wendy sensed Lindsey’s presence, she smiled back at her and said before Lindsey could speak, "It doesn't hurt anymore today, and I'm not doing much! The kids just missed my cooking and I'm bored..."
She blocked back the words that Lindsey was about to say.
Lindsey looked at her and let out a heavy sigh. In the end, she did not say anything and put on an apron, then walked over to Mrs. Wendy and said, "Take a seat, I'll do the rest."
After saying that, she reached out and took the spatula from Mrs. Wendy's hand, then raised her voice to call out to Sieben. "Come over and take Grandma out!"
A few seconds later, Sieben bounced over and held Mrs. Wendy’s hand, then muttered, "Look, I told you not to do it but you didn't listen...I told you that Lindsey will surely get angry when she comes back..."
Mrs. Wendy said something that Lindsey did not hear.
She then smiled and shook her head.
Although Lindsey was not talented in cooking, after being fed by Mrs. Wendy for so long, she knew some basics.
The ingredients were already prepared by Mrs. Wendy and only had a little bit of finishing work left. Lindsey finished them soon and served them one by one on the dining table. She then called them over for dinner.
Dezi had grown much taller lately. When he saw Lindsey coming out of the kitchen with her apron, his jaw dropped and he looked so adorable.
"Mommy and Grandma cooked together today?" Dezi clapped his hands and sat down in his spot.
Lindsey smiled as she put down the baked salmon and nodded seriously, "Yup."
Dezi suddenly became more excited.
After tasting it, the little guy happily smiled with his teeth. "It's as delicious as usual!" After saying that, he scratched his head and felt that it was not right to say so, so he quickly said, "No, it’s more delicious than usual!"
He was so cute that Lindsey's heart melted. She tapped him gently on the forehead and said, "If it's yummy, then eat more!"
That day, Dezi ate a little more than usual.
Before dinner, Lindsey asked Sieben where Soren was, but Sieben said that he was busy and would not return tonight. Lindsey did not think much of it and was unaware of the fact that an impactful event was about to happen in Atlantic City tonight.
The countdown clock had already begun, but only a few people knew what was about to happen.
Seeing the excitement in Dezi’s eyes, Lindsey nodded. She held the back of his head and pulled him into her arms.
"Then will we have a big cake?" Dezi’s voice was filled with hidden anticipation.
Lindsey originally had no intention of celebrating her birthday, but when she saw everyone’s expectant eyes, she thought, ‘I guess it’s not too bad if Dezi’s happy…’ Thus, she nodded with a bitter smile and asked, "Dezi, do you wanna eat cake?"
The little one could already keep up with the grown-up’s thinking and shook his head. "No."
He looked up at Lindsey and added, "I wanna eat Mommy's birthday cake!"
Lindsey simply did not know what to say. In the end, she pinched his cheeks. "You little cheeky monkey."
Dezi smiled brightly.
Lindsey played along with Sieben and Dezi and somehow really looked forward to her upcoming birthday.
At night, Lindsey tucked Dezi in bed and looked at the little one's big eyes that kept wandering around. Suddenly, she thought of something and asked, "Dezi, do you want to have another sibling?"
Dezi's eyes moved around for a moment. "Mommy, are you trying to find a dad for me?"
This child was so mature. He originally wanted to say "new dad", but thinking of Lindsey's feelings, he just said a dad, but he did not like that feeling.
Lindsey was startled by his words and widened her eyes. She actually panicked a little. "What nonsense is that?"
