It was fine with Zayn that Lindsey wanted to kick Arthur out, but she also kicked him out as well, and Zayn felt that Lindsey did this on purpose.
However, since Zayn had already achieved his goal, it did not matter whether he stayed or not. Zayn stood up more frankly than Arthur and said to Lindsey in a gentle voice, "Then I'll leave first. Call me anytime if anything happens. Take care of yourself."
After he said that, he gave Arthur a look and turned to leave.
Looking at this scene, Arthur’s face turned dark, but there was no reason for him to lose his temper. He also stood up and said, "Oh right, I never had the opportunity to tell you that I live in the building next door, so we’re neighbors now."
Mrs. Wendy, who had been eavesdropping in the kitchen, came out with a spatula in her hand when she heard that the both of them were gone. She sighed gently and turned around to concentrate on preparing breakfast again.
She was a lot more open-minded now. The kids had their own lives and she should not worry too much since they were not her biological children anyway.
It was all up to Lindsey which one of them she chose in the end.
Lindsey did not know what Mrs. Wendy was thinking. She rubbed her brow and felt tired again just after she woke up.
Dezi was the latest to wake up that morning. At first, Lindsey was worried that last night’s events would scare him, but it turned out that the boy probably was used to all sorts of things since he was a kid, so being woken up in the middle of the night by his mom and dad was not surprising to him. He then got up in the morning and sat down at the dining table feeling refreshed.
"Mommy called your teacher and took half a day off for you. You can go to school a little later."
Lindsey watched as Dezi ate in small bites, then somehow thought about the only time she ate with Arthur last time. Arthur seemed to eat like this too. He would chew slowly and swallowed everything before he took the next bite.
It was slow, methodical, and extraordinarily elegant. Dezi was still young, but he already had that noble aura. Lindsey sighed and thought about the effects of a bloodline.
After breakfast, Lindsey rushed to the office. She had been calling in sick lately. Even though no one in the office said anything openly, there were certainly many who gossiped behind her back.
Hemera had gone through their previous hurdle and gradually went back on track. The project was still in the pre-investment stage, but they could already see its great prospects.
The effort during this period was not in vain.
It was going to be International Workers’ Day in a few days. Hemera wanted to take advantage of the significance of this day to promote their previously launched products as well as launch a new product.
This was usually how large international companies operated. It would be great for sales and their product's reputation. Visibility would also increase. It was also a rare opportunity for businesses.
Lindsey and another sales director were in charge of this promotion.
Due to this, Lindsey started working overtime. That day, Lindsey was working overtime with a few colleagues from the Planning Department and Sales Department.
Lindsey rubbed her sore muscles at the back of her neck and stretched her back.
A female colleague said, “OMG, finally it’s done! The only thing that comforts us working overtime is the salary we get, but all of this extra money is just gonna even out with what they’re deducting because I was late for a few days this month...”
Another employee next to the girl said, “The Finance Department won’t just deduct your salary as long as you don’t make mistakes. Wait till we’re done with the event. If we did well, we might even get a bonus, so that’s something to look forward to!’
Since she left late this morning, she did not drive. At this time of the day, the road was still quite packed with cars.
When Lindsey raised her hand, a white Maybach suddenly drove over from behind her and stopped in front of Lindsey.
Lindsey was shocked by the sudden movement and took two steps back. She held her phone in her hand and was ready to call the police if anything went wrong.
However, her fear subsided as soon as she saw the person sitting in the car.
Arthur lowered the car window on his side and turned to look at Lindsey, who was standing at the curb with a wary face. His eyebrows wrinkled imperceptibly. "Ms. Juhl, what a coincidence! Did you just get off work?"
Lindsey did not know what his intentions were, but listening to Arthur's tone, it was really as if he had stumbled upon her unintentionally.
She calmed her startled heart and dropped her hands to her side, then nodded. "Yes." There was nothing more to say.
Arthur's fingers curled up gently, but his face was calm. "I'm also heading back. Why don’t I give you a ride?"
As soon as he said that, Lindsey took a few steps back and looked at him warily like she was afraid of him. “It’s alright, I still have some things to do, so I’m not going home yet.”
After that, Lindsey quickly walked behind the exclusive Maybach and waved at a cab that was driving over.
Arthur, who was watching through the rearview mirror, had a glum face.
