Dealing with S.P. Corporation meant that Lindsey might run into Ann. Lindsey really did not want to see that woman.
However, separating personal emotions from work was basic professionalism, and Lindsey could still make sound decisions even with Ann around.
S.P. Corporation had been cooperating with several companies in Atlantic City. Previously, Hemera was not keen to work with them, but due to the previous project, they were desperate and had to get involved with S.P. Corporation.
Now that they found a stronger partner, they did not have to deal with S.P. Corporation, but they could not burn this bridge either.
Lindsey did not go back to change her clothes because she was not bothered to. She could not take S.P. Corporation seriously as she never respected them.
Her clothes were not inappropriate, it was perhaps not dressy enough, but there was no harm in that.
At 2:45 pm, Lindsey arrived at the symposium on time. Many people in the industry preferred to adhere to the "golden ten minutes rule", thus there were not that many people there at this point. Lindsey found a secluded place to sit so that she could slip out later.
Her assistant stood next to Lindsey and looked around. She lowered her voice and asked, "Ms. Juhl, should we be sitting so far away?"
Lindsey looked back at her and did not say anything, then signaled for her to sit as well.
The assistant gulped and carefully sat down beside Lindsey. She was sitting cautiously on the edge of the seat and looked a bit apprehensive.
Just as she sat down, Lindsey spoke leisurely, "I think this is good."
The assistant pushed up her glasses and was still a little uncomfortable. "But no one else can notice us here."
Lindsey relaxed her legs. Although wearing high heels made her look nice, her feet were very uncomfortable. She did not move much and looked very elegant. She even gently knocked her assistant’s forehead. "Why do we want others to notice us? We’re not here to talk business."
To put it bluntly, they were just being polite to maintain a relationship with S.P. Corporation. That was why Lindsey did not want to be too serious.
While they were talking, several companies' representatives came one after another. Lindsey tried to make her presence as small as possible and did not take the initiative to talk to others. She was really determined to just pass the time.
The assistant had something to say, but she just shut her mouth when she saw it.
The event began with several companies’ representatives speaking, mainly to talk about some mutually beneficial cooperation. However, that was not the main purpose of this. There was a small reception after the seminar, which was the main event.
Lindsey had been sitting in the corner without moving. She had a plate of pine nuts in front of her, but Lindsey did not eat it and just peeled it one by one. She had already peeled half a small plate of nuts.
She was puzzled yet relieved that Ann did not show up today, and was wondering if Ann still had not recovered. Lindsey was just fidgeting around hoping that time would fly by so that she could leave on time at 6:00 pm.
However, it was clear that time was not going to speed up. When Lindsey saw the man walking towards her with a glass of wine towards the end of the reception, she raised her eyebrows in surprise.
She barely even lifted her head all afternoon and only glanced up at the beginning when people were entering, but she did not see Arthur at that time. How did this man suddenly pop out of nowhere?
The man with the wine glass appeared in front of her before Lindsey finished wondering.
After saying that, he raised his glass to Lindsey and took a sip of wine.
Lindsey never had to be polite to Quentin. The expression on her face was saying, “Why the hell are you here?!”
Quentin shamelessly took a seat next to Lindsey and smiled back at Arthur, which quelled Arthur’s anger.
He then picked up the pine nuts that Lindsey peeled earlier and munched while he spoke, “Why did you come without telling me? I thought Hemera’s not sending any representatives today.”
Lindsey thought to herself, ‘Even if Hemera sent representatives to the seminar, it has nothing to do with you as a personal assistant to the President of Denarius, right?’
The good thing was that Quentin did not come to look for answers. He stood up after chatting for a bit and turned to Arthur, who had not left yet.
Arthur was used to socializing, but he usually would not take the initiative to talk to others first like today. There were a few longing gazes that wanted to talk to him about business, but they were all scared away by his gaze, which saved him a lot of trouble.
However, at this critical moment, Quentin was simply blind and could not read Arthur’s expression.
Quentin shamelessly clinked his wine glass with Arthur's and said, "Mr. Evans, I’ve heard a lot about you. Our company has a new project that’s in line with your company..."
Looking at Arthur's face and Quentin's incessant chatter, Lindsey picked up her champagne again and took a sip. She felt that Quentin was playing with fire.
Sure enough, a few seconds later, Arthur glanced at Quentin. "Denarius wants to cooperate with me? Then get Zayn to come and talk to me personally."
