Zayn had probably heard Jenny’s accusations earlier, so was he here to blame her for harming Jenny? Did he intend to break them up?
Lindsey laughed coldly. If they were not in this situation, Lindsey wanted to clap for Jenny’s superb acting skills.
She did not say a word and just watched as a bystander. She stared at Jenny coldly as Jenny winced in pain and clung to Zayn's arm. Jenny then anxiously explained, "Zayn, it's not her fault. I was too careless."
Surprisingly, Zayn did not say anything nor did he ask what happened. He did not comfort Jenny either and looked squarely at Lindsey with complex emotions in his eyes.
However, Lindsey looked indifferent as if she was just a bystander watching a good show.
For some reason, Zayn was stung by Lindsey’s look.
He secretly wished for Lindsey to hug him and explain that it was not her fault.
But there was nothing. Lindsey just looked at the two of them with indifference.
In the end, Zayn could not help but speak. “I didn’t think that you can get bullied like that at work, but when it comes to this, you’re pretty aggressive.”
Zayn did not intend to be sarcastic, but he was so used to speaking with Lindsey using this tone that he did not realize it.
He was stunned as soon as he said it, but Jenny was looking smug on the side.
Somehow, Lindsey heard the accusation from his sarcastic statement. In the end, he still thought that she had hurt his precious woman?
This man was her husband, yet he was opposing her and even held the woman who tried to hurt her multiple times in his arms as he righteously accused her.
The indifference on Lindsey’s face began to crumble along with the little hope she had for him.
Thinking back to those untimely heart-fluttering moments yesterday, Lindsey felt that she was overthinking things.
She even thought that Zayn cared for her a little.
Her happiness had not even started to grow before it was ruined.
Zayn could not understand what emotions Lindsey held in her eyes, but when he met her gaze, his chest felt stifled with pain. He wanted to say something but did not open his mouth.
Next to him, Jenny was still crying. "Zayn, it's all my fault. I shouldn't have come to see Ms. Juhl. My stomach hurts. Please take me to the hospital."
Zayn was irritated and a complex emotion tore at his heart.
"Wait for me here." Zayn looked at Lindsey and took Jenny, who was puffing from the pain, away.
Lindsey watched as her husband brought the woman who tried to replace her to the car she just sat on the day before. The door then flung shut.
The sky was gloomy. The layers of dark clouds looked as if it was weighing down on her, making it hard to breathe.
Lindsey squatted down and curled her fingers at her chest, trying to ease her sadness.
