This time, neither Zayn nor Arthur followed them again. After Lindsey and Dezi disappeared from sight, the two men looked at each other meaningfully.
"Stay away from her!" Zayn gave Arthur a look of warning. ‘Don't think I don't know what you’re up to!’
Arthur did not take Zayn's threat to heart. Their auras were both very powerful and were somewhat indistinguishable. Arthur's lips hooked up into a cold arc as he said to Zayn in Danish, "No one needs to practice these words more than you, Mr. Guggenheim."
Zayn turned a deaf ear to his sarcasm and glared at Arthur viciously. He then turned and left in big strides.
The bodyguard that Arthur brought with him only came up after and said respectfully, "Sir!"
The coldness on Arthur's face had not dissipated. He frowned and said in a low voice, "Why didn't you stop Zayn Guggenheim when he approached or even informed me first?"
Arthur had a feeling that if Zayn did not interrupt them today, his relationship with Aksel could have a breakthrough.
The bodyguard did not dare speak.
When Arthur was furious, he would not lose his temper on his subordinates. On the contrary, his gentle tone when he was mad often made them all terrified.
"Go back to the butler and get your punishment," Arthur simply said this and did not want to say another word.
The people behind him nodded but dared not utter a word of dissatisfaction and followed in his footsteps.
The next day, there was a meeting in Hemera to discuss which investment they would accept. Lindsey did not need to participate, so she just called in sick and did not go to work.
No matter which one they chose, it had nothing to do with her and she did not want to care.
Dezi’s kindergarten had asked the parents to bring their kids on a parent-child day out this weekend, which was actually just a field trip. The parents would take their children out and take some photos. When they came back, the kids would have to summarize the trip themselves.
This was a small assignment, and the kindergarten would evaluate and choose the most loving family.
Lindsey was much more concerned about her son's matters than this investment. On Wednesday, she started to prepare the things they needed for the weekend trip, from food and drinks to their daily necessities. She took into account the tiniest details and even made a list for fear of missing something.
Sieben was lying next to her painting with a watercolor brush. Her artwork was a little abstract like Picasso’s. Lindsey stared at it for a long time and could not tell what Sieben was painting.
The next day, Lindsey arrived at work and received the news from her assistant. "The board of directors decided to accept the investment from Evans Corporation after the discussion."
Lindsey nodded slightly. "Bring me the report that you made two days ago."
The young assistant subconsciously stood upright and answered, "Yes, ma’am!"
After coming to her senses, the assistant froze for a moment. "Ms. Juhl, why don't you look surprised?"
Lindsey raised her eyebrows and asked, "What’s so surprising about it?"
Arthur's offer was overwhelmingly beneficial for them. The board of directors would accept it as long as they were not dumb. The only ones who were worried were herself and Shaun. As for Zayn, he was their long-time competitor that suddenly offered his services for nothing in return, so it was only right for him to get rejected.
The young assistant pushed up her black-framed glasses on the bridge of her nose and looked a little stunned. "Right...you must’ve known about it a long time ago."
Lindsey nodded at Shaun reassuringly to signal that she was fine.
However, before Lindsey brought the wine glass to her lips, Arthur, who had only glanced at her when she first entered, spoke abruptly, "It's not very chivalrous to let a lady drink in a business setting. Change her drink."
Lindsey was the only lady present in the room.
The waiter quickly went forward to remove the wine in front of Lindsey and replaced it with lemonade. Hemera’s staff who were present were a little surprised. The people that Arthur brought along also did not expect their boss to say that.
The atmosphere was a little awkward for a while. Shaun went along with it and smiled. "Mr. Evans, you’re a true gentleman."
Lindsey just felt a little embarrassed as she sipped on the lemonade.
Besides this, Arthur did not say anything else to Lindsey. He just casually mentioned it like it was a minor thing, so everyone quickly forgot about it.
Just like that, Hemera and Arthur's company formally established a partnership. Evans Corporation was an international consortium across multiple countries, the strength of which should not be underestimated. Their help was greatly beneficial to Hemera’s project’s R&D.
As one of the people in charge, Lindsey was naturally a little busier than the others, but she still took the time to take Dezi and Sieben out for a field trip on the weekend.
She wanted Mrs. Wendy to go out with them, but Mrs. Wendy did not like to leave the house, so she gave up.
Lindsey took the two of them by herself, which was equivalent to taking two young children, but they were quite obedient.
The kindergarten’s assignment was for parents to bring their kids out on a trip in nature, but Dezi's situation was special as his parents were divorced. Lindsey also did not intend to bring Zayn along just to create the illusion of a family outing for the sake of having her child fit in like everyone else.
