After saying that, Quentin continued, "Madam is so brave today! Sigh, but what a pity...why is she getting into Shaun's car? Just now when I was standing at the back, many people around me said that Madam and Shaun look great together..."
Before he could finish his sentence, Zayn suddenly interrupted him with a strong threat. "I guess your tongue is too long, that's why you talk so much. I can probably cut it out and make it a side dish."
Quentin quickly reached out to cover his mouth while he looked at Zayn with a frightened face.
Zayn coldly swept him a glance, then downed his wine and turned to go back downstairs.
Quentin waited for Zayn to leave before he reached out to pat his chest. "Why would he want to cut off my tongue and eat it as a side dish?! How horrifying! He’s definitely gone crazy..."
However, before he finished muttering to himself, the phone in his pocket suddenly beeped.
Quentin took it out and glanced at it. The sender was the man who had only just said that he wanted to cut his tongue out.
Shaun took them out to a nice meal before sending them home.
Yvette was in the passenger seat. She had accidentally eaten too much and her body-hugging dress had become a different kind of constraint. She watched Shaun take a left turn at the intersection and looked at him suspiciously. "You should’ve gone straight just now. After sending me home, then you can send Lindsey back. From there, you can go back to your house. It's faster that way."
Shaun smiled and tilted his head to look at her. He quickly withdrew his gaze and said in a flat voice, "This is faster, trust me."
Yvette looked at him dubiously and felt that Shaun was spouting nonsense.
Lindsey and Dezi sat in the back and watched the two of them. Dezi was a little drowsy after eating, so Lindsey held him in her arms and patted him gently. All of a sudden, Shaun's phone automatically played a voice message, "Three hours ago, Denarius' internal network system was hacked and important company secrets were allegedly leaked. Zayn Guggenheim blocked the news and we’re only just getting wind of it now."
Lindsey raised her eyebrows. ‘Three hours ago? Wasn't that when Zayn and Ann's engagement ceremony officially started? I wonder if Zayn continued his engagement or rushed back to work...’
This thought only flashed in her mind before Lindsey quickly discarded it. It had nothing to do with her anymore.
Shaun apologized as he did not expect his message to be automatically played.
Rather, Yvette glanced uneasily at Lindsey through the rearview mirror and found her focused on coaxing Dezi, which put her mind at ease.
When they arrived at Opal Suites, Lindsey said goodbye to both of them and got out of the car with the child in her arms. Yvette waved at her, then turned around to see Shaun looking at her with unblinking eyes.
"What? What's wrong?" Yvette gulped and asked in a small voice.
It was so weird. Earlier when Lindsey was here, Yvette did not speak either and did not feel the silence. Now that Lindsey was gone, the car seemed to be much emptier and quieter all of a sudden.
Shaun was amused by her little rabbit-like reaction and laughed. "Nothing."
Yvette was annoyed and leaned over to pinch his cheeks. “Are you trying to scare me?!” In the next second, Shaun hugged her.
"You’re the one who jumped over first." Shaun reached out and hugged her tightly, then whispered in her ear.
His breath that landed on Yvette’s earlobe felt like an electric current that was tickling and numbing.
Yvette flinched and swooned over his deep voice. She weakly pushed him away. “Don’t do that! It tickles...”
"Don't come any closer, let's just talk like this." Yvette put her hand between them to keep her distance. Her heart had already melted because Shaun called her "babe". If this man came any closer, she would lose it and would probably agree to whatever he said.
The night breeze from outside blew into the car. Shaun regained some sanity and reached out to hold Yvette's hand without trying anything else. "I’m sorry, I was a little impulsive just now."
Yvette blinked and the little bit of hope under her eyes suddenly dissipated.
"But now that I've calmed down and thought about it, I still want to marry you." Shaun suddenly lifted his head and looked at her solemnly.
Yvette was dumbfounded. After looking at Shaun for a long time, she finally found her voice again. “Do you know what you’re saying?”
Shaun nodded his head.
"No, wait." Yvette was puzzled. "But, the two of us aren’t even dating yet!"
The man who had not moved suddenly leaned in and pecked her on the lips, then he just pressed his lips against Yvette's and said, "Do normal friends do this?"
Yvette was left speechless.
She was used to Shaun's occasional sneak attacks. At first, she would get mad, but now she was not even angry anymore and even liked his touch. However, they had never formally declared what they meant to each other.
"But...but..." Yvette was still thinking of what to say. "Don’t rush it first."
She reached out and pushed Shaun away, then looked at him with a straight face. "Although you confessed your love to me, you still haven't asked me to be your girlfriend, so this doesn't count."
