The sound of the door closing behind her was not too loud, but Lindsey still shuddered.
After Zayn was long gone, Lindsey slowly moved and sat where Zayn was sitting earlier. His warmth had already dissipated, but his scent still lingered in the air.
This scent that she was so familiar with before became vaguely unfamiliar to her.
It would be even more unfamiliar to her in the future because his scent would gradually be tainted with the scent of another woman which would overlap each other. It would become a clear boundary that separated them.
The lights in the living room were not turned off. Lindsey was alone in a warm and bright room, but she just felt wooden and completely empty.
She always thought that she might not be able to hold back when she saw Zayn and would cry in front of him, but fortunately, she managed to control her emotions.
The emotions that she was not used to gradually became familiar to her. Was this a kind of growth?
Lindsey sat in the living room all night and only went back to her room when it was bright outside.
Mrs. Wendy woke up early every day, so Lindsey did not want Mrs. Wendy to see her lest she got worried.
With this thought in mind, Lindsey buried herself under the covers. Her head felt so heavy and she fell asleep in a daze. When she opened her eyes again, it was already very sunny outside.
Lindsey sat up violently, straightened her hair, put on her shoes, and walked outside, shouting as she went, "Aunt Wendy! Dezi..."
She walked to the door of Dezi's room. "Dezi, get up! You're late for school!"
"Dezi already left for school." Mrs. Wendy’s voice came from behind her.
Seeing Lindsey turn around looking puzzled, Mrs. Wendy said without looking back, "Did you get lost in your sleep? Look what time it is."
Lindsey shook her head that hurt like it was about to explode and subconsciously looked at the clock on the wall. When she saw the hour hand that was pointing to 1:00 pm, she was dumbfounded. "OMG, it's so late!"
"Yup," Mrs. Wendy said and walked up to her. "Look at your dark circles. I'll get you an egg to rub it on later. What time did you sleep last night? You should sleep some more. Young people just don't take their bodies seriously."
Lindsey listened to her nagging voice and inexplicably felt touched. She went to wash up briefly, then came out and saw that Mrs. Wendy had already set the table for her.
She sat down and picked up her fork as she asked, "Did you send Dezi to school? Did he have a temper this morning?"
Lindsey looked around and did not see Sieben, so she asked, "Where’s Sieben?"
Mrs. Wendy looked at the dark bruises under Lindsey's eyes, which looked especially obvious on her face because of her fair skin.
Lindsey did not look unhappy, so Mrs. Wendy said, “Zayn was afraid that Dezi would make a fuss when he woke up, so he came early this morning. I saw that you were sleeping soundly, so I didn't disturb you. Sieben was also taken away by Zayn to the office. Soren found a doctor for Sieben, so she’s doing a checkup."
Ann did not allow him to stay away from her and leaned closer. Her voice was sultry as she said, "You can call me whatever you used to call your President's ex-wife."
As she said that, she looked straight at Quentin. Her cat-eye makeup made her eyes look deeper and more charming.
"I...I used to...achoo!" An earth-shattering sneeze resounded through the President's Office of S.P. Corporation. Quentin sneezed all over that flirtatious face that was close to his.
Quentin’s saliva suddenly sprayed Ann's face, and the expression on that beautiful face finally collapsed. Her face became distorted and she looked like the evil witch who tricked Snow White into eating the poisoned apple.
It was like a certain sneeze button was activated in Quentin. Since that sneeze, he just kept sneezing uncontrollably. Quentin was still trying to explain to Ann while sneezing, "I...achoo...I’m sorry...achoo...I'm allergic to...achoo...perfume...achoo..."
He said this while chasing after Ann and sneezing on her, but his eyes looked apologetic.
Ann did not blatantly avoid Quentin, so she quickly sent Quentin out. The smile on her face was as stiff as it could be. "Quentin, you should’ve said so earlier! I won’t keep you any longer. Go back and tell Zayn that I’ll be there on time for the concert this weekend."
"Okay...achoo...okay." Quentin sneezed again before walking out and closing the door behind him. His continuous sneezing could still be heard even after he walked far away.
Ann did not get what she wanted and was even sneezed on. She touched her face that was moist with Quentin’s saliva and almost vomited.
Quentin's sneezing did not stop until he walked out of the S.P. Corporation office. He straightened his tie and lowered his head to sniff his shoulder, then hurriedly reached out and fanned his nose. "Ugh...it stinks!"
