Forced Into Marriage: My Husband’s Too Mean novel Chapter 486

Lindsey’s chest felt like it was being stabbed. It hurt so much, but she still had to force out a smile. After she said that, she smiled at Dezi.

Zayn was not much better compared to Lindsey. He knew that Lindsey would find out and even guessed her reaction, but he never would have thought that she would say such words so casually in front of the child.

He did not know what he wanted. If Lindsey was too sad, he would feel heartbroken, but her nonchalant tone just made him feel suffocated.

There was a vague pain in his chest.

Zayn froze and saw Dezi looking at him, so he had to follow Lindsey's words and said, "Yes, Daddy will never abandon Dezi."

After saying that, he swept a glance at Lindsey and quickly looked at the child. "Dezi, will you abandon Daddy?"

The little one in his arms shook his head incessantly to express his firmness.

His world was so simple. When Dezi got his desired answer, he soon revealed a sweet smile and his eyes curved up into tiny arcs.

Zayn carried him while Lindsey wiped his face and hands with a warm towel. In the end, they fed Dezi a glass of milk and it was already 10:00 pm.

Lindsey reached out to take the child from Zayn and said in a flat tone, "Give him to me. You've been carrying him for a long time. I’ll put him to bed."

Zayn looked at her but did not let go of Dezi. He lowered his head to kiss Dezi and said, "Daddy will tuck you in tonight, okay?"

Little Dezi looked at Lindsey, then at Zayn. He had one hand holding Zayn tightly while he reached out with his other hand to hold Lindsey's hand.

His meaning was, "Daddy and Mommy together."

Seeing the excitement in the boy’s eyes, Lindsey took a deep breath and forced out a smile. “Okay, Daddy and Mommy will tuck you in tonight.”

The last time this happened was a long time ago. Lindsey could not remember exactly when, but it seemed to be several months ago.

Dezi was lying in the middle of the bed with Lindsey on the left and Zayn on the right. Lindsey’s hand was resting on the top of Dezi’s head and Zayn was holding a storybook as he read Dezi a story in a low voice.

Zayn’s deep voice was usually very intimidating, but tonight, it was very gentle.

Lindsey saw that Dezi was obviously very sleepy, but he yawned and glanced at the two of them from time to time.

"Go to sleep, Daddy and Mommy are here." Lindsey gently stroked his head.

Zayn also reached out wanting to stroke Dezi’s head and their hands accidentally touched. Lindsey abruptly withdrew her hand, not noticing Zayn's downcast eyes.

After crying so much and going to bed later than usual, Dezi could not stand it much longer. When he heard Lindsey and Zayn’s promise, Dezi fell asleep with ease.

When Dezi was sound asleep, Lindsey got up and drew the curtains in the room.

When he mentioned this, Lindsey thought of the child crying in her arms and felt her heart aching again.

However, she did not feel that there was a need to discuss this with Zayn, so she simply said, “Dezi accidentally saw the news of your engagement and thought you didn’t want him anymore. That’s all.”

Zayn frowned at her. "So you told him that I’m living with someone else in the future and won’t stay with him anymore?"

"Isn’t that true?" Lindsey asked him back with confusion, looking at Zayn with disbelief.

Zayn wanted to refute her words, but he opened his mouth and nothing came out. Looking at the current situation, this was bound to happen.

However, he still felt a wave of unexplainable anger. It was probably not just because Lindsey told the child the harsh truth so bluntly, but also her unconcerned attitude.

Zayn was so conflicted. He wanted her to be angry about it, but at the same time, he also hoped that she would not always be so upset because of him.

Now that Lindsey gave him an unexpected answer, her words and actions clearly told him that she did not care. She did not care who he was going to marry and who he was engaged to. She was indifferent to who he was going to live with in the future and who his future wife would be.

Zayn could put up with everything, but not Lindsey’s nonchalant attitude.

He looked away and his slightly harsh voice sounded like he was questioning her. "He doesn't even know anything. How can you tell him this?"

"Then what do you think I should tell him?" Lindsey immediately asked him back. She was afraid to wake the others, so she kept her voice low. "Should I tell him that Daddy is just acting with another woman? That he'll be back tomorrow?"
