"I have a dinner engagement tonight, so I'll be back later."

Lindsey Juhl just could not understand this man.

When Zayn came back, it was already late at night, but Lindsey was unaware of it because she shut him out again.

Zayn was a man of his word and kept attacking Hemera. However, he still expressed an intention to cooperate.

Shaun initially made that decision because he did not want Lindsey to be involved with Zayn at work. He never thought that Zayn would go to this extent to go against Hemera.

The company's top executives had been pressuring Shaun, but this time, there was no room for negotiation as they had removed him as a decision-maker in this project. Finally, Hemera agreed to cooperate with Denarius.

This was the project they had fought for, but in the end, it came to this. Shaun thought of Lindsey and felt upset.

Lindsey was assigned as the person in charge of this project. She did not expect Zayn would really give Hemera another chance and was still confused when she received the appointment.

"Why are you still standing there? Are you that happy that you’re stunned?" Lydia poked her.

However, Lindsey could not bring herself to smile. Zayn was only doing this because of her, which made her feel uneasy. Such a Zayn was too abnormal.

As expected, Lindsey's uneasiness soon came true.

"Lindsey, you’ll be going to the Denarius office with Mr. William today until the project ends. This time, you’ll be in charge of this project and Mr. William will be supporting you. If you don't understand anything, just ask, got it?"

Lindsey nodded and said, "Got it."

Denarius was very efficient. The matters regarding the cooperation were quickly discussed. To please Denarius, Hemera had compromised in some small details as they feared that Denarius’ devil boss would suddenly go back on his word. All they wanted was to expedite this matter to ensure everything was set in stone.

Since Denarius had named Lindsey to be in charge of this project, she was also eligible to attend the internal meeting with Hemera’s top management.

Shaun, who was sitting next to Lindsey, looked at her worriedly. When the crowd was not paying attention to Lindsey, she quickly winked at Shaun.

Lindsey moved her hands and a moment later, Shaun received a message on his phone. “Big brother, don't worry about me!” The message was followed by a cute smiley face emoji.

Unconsciously, Shaun revealed a smile and looked at Lindsey with a tender gaze.

The timing of this project was still uncertain, which meant that Lindsey would have to work with Zayn and Jenny Lenig at the Denarius office until the project ended.

When Lindsey walked out of the conference room, her face sank.

She did not want to see Zayn, especially when he was with Jenny.

The gossip around Lindsey pulled her away from her thoughts. She paused in her footsteps and could hear the talk in the office clearly. Those people did not even try to avoid her as they did not lower their voices at all.

"What do you think this means? She just ruined the Anton case and now she's been assigned to be in charge of the Denarius project. Isn't the company afraid that she’ll screw up the Denarius project as well?"

"You still don't know, right? She was named by Denarius to be the person in charge of the project. Tsk tsk...who doesn't know that the President of Denarius already has a sweetheart. Lindsey slept with him just for this contract, so what can the company do?"

Fenly's voice interjected. She was clearly envious as her face was already distorted with jealousy and her tone was mean.

"Hmph! Does she think she can be the lady boss by sleeping with him? Even if she tried harder, she’s only suited to be a mistress."

"Yeah, it's a pity that some people can't even get what they want even after being played with. They can only sit here and gossip about others." Lindsey simply wanted to laugh when she heard this. They were talking about her being a mistress when she was Zayn’s lawfully wedded wife.

Lindsey did not know whether she should laugh at their ignorance or her own humility. In the end, she could not even do herself justice even if she tried.

"Lindsey Juhl, what do you mean? What is there to be proud of? When Mr. Guggenheim gets tired of playing with you, you’ll be the first one he kicks out!" Fenly was poked in the wound and she exploded with anger.

"You don't know what I mean? Why don't you go ask the Director?" Lindsey did not want to waste any more time with Fenly. Lindsey could already tell what was going on between them since the previous incident when Fenly was chosen to be Shaun’s assistant preemptively and even more so when the Director asked Lindsey to rope in more people from the department to the Denarius project.

If she still could not see what was fishy about this, then she should not be in this business.
