Shaun's proposal seemed a bit abrupt to Lindsey, but to Zayn and the others, and even to Yvette, it was actually a proposal that had been carefully thought out for a long time.
Two weeks ago, Shaun was already meticulously preparing for the proposal, asking for the best of everything. He even intentionally "leaked" the news to Denarius and Wendell Corporation's employees and finally succeeded in letting both Zayn and Yvette know about it.
When Zayn first learned about it, he even had the idea to kidnap Shaun directly. Who even gave Shaun the guts to do this?
In the end, Quentin pulled Zayn back from almost breaking the law and suggested that ruining the marriage proposal would suffice. That was why there was such a scene today.
Quentin let out a soft sigh and wanted to retreat, but Zayn suddenly asked, “How far is it from the fall equinox?”
Stunned, Quentin silently calculated and said, "This year, it’s a little earlier in less than 20 days. 18 days to be exact."
This number inexplicably pleased Zayn and his brow tightened. "Alright, go down and arrange for the driver to come over."
Zayn sat on the wide chair, glanced at the computer screen, and casually clicked a few times. He then lowered his head to sign the document. Quentin thought of Zayn's "daily program" every night, and the gloating feeling he had earlier was suddenly overridden by heartache.
Quentin thought that his choice of not wanting to get married was for the best. After marriage, there might be divorce and he would have to suffer from it. How disturbing...
Soon after Quentin held such thoughts and shook his head as he left Zayn's office, Zayn signed the last document in his hand, and turned to walk out of the office.
The driver was already waiting downstairs. Zayn got into the car and closed his eyes while the driver sent him to Opal Suites.
Lindsey was sent home by Shaun’s driver. She touched her growling stomach and felt aggrieved. After such a skit, she did not even get to drink a sip of water. Next time, she must invite Shaun and Yvette over.
When Lindsey came home with a big bouquet of roses, Dezi and Sieben excitedly surrounded her.
Lindsey instructed them, "Go and get me a vase." It was a shame to throw away such a pretty bouquet.
Mrs. Wendy also came over and looked at Lindsey with some surprise and uneasiness. In the end, she smiled and asked, "Is it from Mr. Juhl?"
"No way." Lindsey hastily denied it. This was an act anyway.
"Shaun wanted to give it to Yvette, but the two of them quarreled and she refused to take it, so I picked it up because the flowers looked so nice."
Lindsey was adamant not to let Mrs. Wendy and the children find out about the proposal. Otherwise, it would be awkward for all of them.
After listening to her explanation, Mrs. Wendy was delighted, but also a little disappointed. She was clearly torn as she wanted Lindsey to be happy, at the same time, she was also worried for Zayn.
"By the way, Aunt Wendy, is there any food left? I'm so hungry." Lindsey touched her stomach, feeling that she was really at a loss today.
Mrs. Wendy nodded hastily. "Yes, I’ll heat it up for you."
After that, Mrs. Wendy went into the kitchen and muttered, “Didn’t you go out for dinner? Why are you still hungry?”
Lindsey was also helpless.
This time, the little boy in her arms nodded heavily. Daddy said that it was their little secret and to keep it from Mommy first.
Dezi pursed his lips and did not know why he had to hide it from Mommy, but he wanted Daddy to come back and stay with him and Mommy like before, so he had to keep his promise to Daddy.
Since he said so, Lindsey no longer dwelled on it and coaxed him to sleep as usual before she left the room.
Zayn did not get to see Lindsey's silhouette at the window as he did in the past before all the lights in the room went out.
The faintly familiar sadness enveloped him and he emanated such cold vibes that no one dared to approach him.
Lindsey fell asleep quickly and was completely oblivious to how long the man downstairs sat there watching them.
Before Lindsey slept, she called Shaun, but he did not pick up. Lindsey sighed and did not care too much.
The two people she was worried about were at Shaun's house. Shaun forced Yvette to a corner and had a rare gloom in his eyes. "Tell me the truth."
Yvette could not retreat any further and was cornered by him. "What do you want me to say?"
Shaun traced her slightly red lips slowly with his finger as he asked a woman such a question for the first time in his life. "Do you love me?"
The stubbornness in his eyes unintentionally stung Yvette's eyes. She turned her head away and averted her gaze. "I don’t."
