Forced Into Marriage: My Husband’s Too Mean novel Chapter 409

"Mr. Guggenheim, we have evidence connecting you to a number of corporate bribery cases. Please come with us." It was the same middle-aged police officer that came during the day. He was still polite to Zayn, but the look on his righteous face was a little different.

Lindsey subconsciously went forward to pull Zayn’s arm. Her eyebrows were tightly furrowed.

Zayn looked at her and patted the back of her hand. “It’s okay.”

He shifted his eyes down and saw Dezi looking at him with his big brown eyes. Zayn leaned down and took him into his arms with one hand, then he took Lindsey's hand with the other and brought them upstairs, ignoring the words of the police officer.

"Mr. Guggenheim!" The policeman's angry voice came from behind him.

Zayn stopped in his tracks and turned his head at an angle so that his side profile was showing. "Officer Yaleman, please wait a moment. Let me tuck my son into bed."

He said the words as a matter of fact with a flat tone, but in such a situation, there was only arrogance in his eyes.

Zayn sensed the panic in Lindsey and tightened his grip. Then, he did not say another word and led them back to the bedroom.

He surprisingly did as he said and really put Little Dezi to bed. He then gently patted his little head and said, "Go to sleep. Mommy and Daddy will be with you."

Dezi's eyes fluttered as he looked at Zayn. After a few seconds, he closed his eyes obediently.

After Dezi fell asleep, Zayn held Lindsey’s hand and closed the door, then went to their bedroom.

Lindsey was worried but did not speak. She just lowered her gaze and looked deep in thought.

She was suddenly lifted from the ground and almost screamed. In the next second, the man put her down gently on the bed.

"Zayn, what are you doing?" Lindsey frowned at Zayn, wondering what he was trying to do.

Zayn leaned down and kissed her on the forehead, then he pecked her pouty lips twice before he said, “Go to sleep. I’ll go downstairs once you’re asleep.”

Lindsey sat up at once and sounded angry as she said, "How can I possibly sleep?!"

Zayn grunted and moved his fingers slightly. His eyes looked impatient and he muttered, "They really came at a bad time."

"Get some sleep, I'll be back tomorrow." Zayn reached out and straightened her hair. "Trust me."

He was still in the mood to say all this. Lindsey was so exasperated and did not know how to react.

Seeing her glum face, Zayn jokingly said, "I just don't want my wife and son to watch me get taken away by the police."

When he said this, he had a smile on his face, but his eyes were serious.

Lindsey’s eyes suddenly turned red as she realized what a proud person Zayn was.

Who wanted to hurt him unscrupulously? She suppressed her tears and hugged Zayn.

In fact, Quentin was also very anxious. The Denarius bribery case had become the hottest news that it could not even be suppressed. Now, Denarius' external phone number was exploding with calls and their emergency PR team was useless.

At this juncture, Zayn was even taken away by the police. Quentin could already foresee the storm Denarius was about to face.

Lindsey took a deep breath and walked back to the bed as she said, “Everyone in the company will probably know about it soon. Are you at the office now? Help me see what's going on outside."

Quentin was indeed at Denarius at the moment. Zayn would have been here himself if he was not afraid that Lindsey would be worried, but he was now arrested.

He pulled open the office door just in time to bump into his assistant rushing over to him in a panic. “Mr. Quentin! There’s news on the internet that said the President has been arrested to assist in the investigation. They even said that Denarius only got to this position because of underhanded means.”

The assistant finished in one breath and looked like he was about to cry. He also showed Quentin his phone and said, "There’s also this picture."

Quentin looked closely and saw that it was a picture of Zayn being brought into the police station.

"F*ck!"

Quentin could not help but curse and looked frightening. The assistant’s tears were scared back as he timidly asked, "Mr. Quentin, the company’s a mess now and there are non-stop phone calls coming in. What do we do now?"

Before he could answer, Lindsey's voice came through the phone, "Quentin, convene a board meeting in my name."

Only then did Quentin remember that he had not hung up the call with Lindsey yet. He was frustrated and suddenly froze after realizing what Lindsey was saying.
