Zayn was helpless. Seeing Lindsey in such a panic, he leisurely said, “If something really happened, they would’ve gotten what they wanted.”
Lindsey had found her phone and did not really understand him. She did not raise her head and asked, "What do you mean?"
Zayn sighed at Lindsey’s slow wit and did not speak again. He just watched as Lindsey dialed Shaun’s number. Unexpectedly, the call which Zayn thought would not get through, was picked up after three rings.
"Hello, Lindsey?" It was Shaun's voice, but it did not sound right.
Lindsey did not have time to care about this and was relieved to hear him answer the call. "Big brother, it's me. Is Yvette with you?"
Shaun gave a deep "mm" and added, "She’s with me. Don't worry. I'll hang up now!"
After saying that, Shaun simply hung up the phone.
Lindsey still wanted to say something, but she did not get the opportunity to say it. A second before Shaun hung up, she seemed to hear Yvette's angry roar, "Shaun Juhl! You..."
It was Yvette’s voice, but Lindsey's heart became even more jittery because of this. Nothing would really happen, right?
She tried to call back again, but his phone was switched off.
Lindsey looked worried because she was scared that something happened to Yvette. It was not because she was worried about Shaun. Even so, Zayn still felt displeased.
He pulled her onto the bed and climbed on top of her, then lightly pecked at her earlobe. “Do you really not understand or are you just pretending?”
Lindsey was still thinking why Yvette would shout like that and got caught off guard when she was attacked by Zayn. Her spine stiffened and her voice changed. “What don’t I understand?”
"Shaun and Yvette." Zayn's lips and tongue lingered on her soft skin as his eyes narrowed slightly.
Lindsey thought about it. She initially felt that Shaun and Yvette were very suitable for each other and she knew that Shaun did have some feelings for Yvette. This time, she understood what Zayn meant. "But, Yvette’s a girl, and she doesn't look too willing just now."
Zayn knew that she was thinking about something else and did not bother to correct her. When he saw that Lindsey was just worried that Shaun would take advantage of Yvette, he felt more comfortable.
“Oh right, Yvette was clearly very clingy to my brother before. Since Shaun’s also interested in her, why are they so cold to each other all of a sudden?” Lindsey frowned and really could not understand.
When Shaun came to Germany, it was weird that Yvette did not follow him, but at that time, Lindsey did not have the heart to care about this. Now that she thought about it, these two were indeed quite strange.
Suddenly, Lindsey felt a sharp pain in her earlobe. Lindsey was caught off guard and let out a soft cry. She looked at Zayn with displeasure and pretended to scold him, "Why did you bite me?"
Zayn bit her again. "You’re talking about another man when you’re lying right under your own husband, so don’t you think I should punish you?"
Lindsey laughed and glared at him. "I was clearly talking about my brother and Yvette. How can you even misinterpret this? Are you jealous?"
"Well...yes. What are you gonna do about it?" Zayn played along.
Lindsey really did not know what to do with this man. Before she could say anything, the phone beside them vibrated violently. This time, it was Zayn’s phone.
A few hours ago.
A strong metallic taste lingered in Shaun’s mouth and his tender lip hurt. Only then did Shaun let go of Yvette, but his hand was still on her waist.
The corner of Yvette's mouth was a little bloody. "Shaun Juhl! I don't want to have anything to do with you, even if I die!"
This was Yvette. His stoic self-restraint and sanity could always be completely destroyed by her.
In the small space, the atmosphere became even more suffocating than before.
After a long time, Yvette closed her eyes and looked up to imprint Shaun's face into her mind. "I've given up a long time ago and won't bother you anymore. Mr. Juhl, please let me go."
The exhaustion on her face was a clear sign that she did not want to be in this game of chase anymore.
She had put up more distance between them with her cold attitude than she had with the hysterical crying and yelling earlier.
Shaun suddenly let go of her and retreated.
The moon was bright outside. Yvette reached out again to push the door, but it still did not budge.
"I'll send you back." Shaun seemed to have reverted to his usual gentleman demeanor in an instant.
Yvette shook her head. "No need."
There was a suffocating silence for a long time before a soft click sounded. Yvette did not hesitate to push open the car door.
"Are you still thinking about what happened back then? I told you many times that it was a misunderstanding." Shaun's voice suddenly sounded behind her.
His tone carried a nervousness that Yvette could not hear.
