Forced Into Marriage: My Husband’s Too Mean novel Chapter 368

Lindsey’s heart was pounding and her forehead was sweaty.

The feeling of palpitations still lingered in her chest. Lindsey only remembered that she had a dream, but she did not know what she dreamed about.

Lindsey reached down to touch her belly and felt that it was flat. The hope at the bottom of her heart once again shattered and her chest suddenly ached.

Zayn would leave a small night light on by the bed because he was afraid that Lindsey would wake up in the middle of the night and feel scared, or if she needed to get up for something.

His arm was on Lindsey’s waist and they were lying face to face. Lindsey looked at Zayn's eyebrows close up and wanted to touch them, but she hesitated to extend her hand.

Lindsey thought, ‘I don’t deserve this. I killed our child. I don't deserve you.’

She felt that she did not deserve Zayn's concern and the peace and happiness she now had.

Her fingertips traced over her belly and she suddenly thought, ‘Where will the baby go? They all say that he’s dead and gone, but where will he go in death?"

Lindsey had been thinking about this question these days.

She and Zayn loved this child so much, so their baby must be missing them too.

‘Where are you?’

Lindsey gently removed the arm that was resting on her waist. The sleeping Zayn probably felt it because his fingers moved as a sign that he was about to wake up.

She said softly, "I'm going to the bathroom."

"Mm." Zayn just hummed.

Lindsey turned around and got up. Instead of going to the bathroom, she gently opened the bedroom door and walked out.

"Where did you go, baby?" Lindsey murmured.

She felt her way around the corridor and stopped at the door of the nursery. Her outstretched hand did not push the door open. She just paused and put her hand down. "You're not here. The one in here is fake."

At this hour, the villa was silent, but it was still lit everywhere. Lindsey did not even wear her shoes and walked all over the house barefoot. She constantly repeated, "Baby, where did you go?"

"Will you come out?" Lindsey opened every room and peered in, but found nothing. Her voice had already taken on a crying tone.

"Baby?" There was nothing inside the villa, so Lindsey went outside to take a look. "Didn't you talk to Mommy this afternoon?"

The sound of the door opening was extraordinarily clear in the silent night. Lindsey was only wearing a nightgown and was barefoot when she ran out.

In the open space outside, Lindsey's voice gradually became louder. "Where are you? Will you come out? Mommy really missed you..."

Upstairs, Zayn’s fingers moved slightly and subconsciously wanted to pull Lindsey closer, but when he reached out, the place next to him was empty.

His heart dropped and his sleepiness receded in an instant. He sat up violently and called out, “Lindsey?!”

The room was empty and the bedroom door was ajar, so the light from the corridor reflected inside.

"Lindsey!" Zayn immediately rolled off the bed and did not even have time to put on his shoes before he ran out.

He first went to the nursery, but the door of the nursery was closed and there was no sign of anyone inside.

Zayn then ran downstairs without hesitation. As he ran, he called out, "Lindsey!"

The entire villa was in a frenzy.

The nurse was helping Lindsey to treat the tiny wounds on her hands and feet when the doctor asked Zayn to step outside for a while.

"It seems like your wife was traumatized. Moreover, her body still hasn’t fully recovered after the induced labor, which is why she suddenly fainted. Given those circumstances you mentioned, I suggest that it’ll be helpful for your wife to see a psychiatrist."

Zayn nodded gently. He had already hired a psychiatrist, but before their first therapy session, she already had an accident.

After the doctor finished what he had to say, he did not leave, but looked at Zayn's feet and sighed. "Mr. Guggenheim, you should also get your wounds treated."

Only then did Zayn notice that there was a small cut on his foot at some point and it was still bleeding.

"Thanks," Zayn said softly.

He had not been feeling it.

The doctor prescribed some mood stabilizers for Lindsey. That night, Zayn did not sleep a wink and watched over Lindsey the whole night.

When Lindsey woke up the next day, they had already returned to the villa.

Lindsey saw Zayn applying some ointment to her hand as soon as she woke up. Before she could move, Zayn pulled her up.

There was no gauze because her wounds were just scrapes and they were not very deep. Lindsey lifted her other hand and it was in the same condition.

"What's...what's going on?" Lindsey asked Zayn with some confusion.

Her memory had not returned yet.
