Forced Into Marriage: My Husband’s Too Mean novel Chapter 342

After waiting for another ten minutes, Soren picked up the phone and wanted to call the number, but he was stopped by Zayn. "Let’s just wait."

Another twenty minutes passed and it was already 6:40 pm.

Suddenly, Zayn stood up.

As soon as he moved, the phone on the table vibrated wildly.

Zayn froze for a second before he took two steps forward and grabbed the phone.

It was the call they had been waiting for.

"Hello, this is Zayn Guggenheim."

"Hello." The girl who spoke had an undisguised nervousness, "My name is Sophie Leger."

This name appeared in Zayn's information so many times that when he heard her self-introduction for the first time, he felt a strange sense of familiarity.

Probably because Zayn did not say anything, Sophie quickly made her intentions clear. "Are you looking for Lindsey Juhl? I know her whereabouts. I’m sure you must know who I am. I can tell you what you want, but you must promise me one condition."

"What condition?" Zayn asked after calming down from his momentary surprise.

Sophie was hiding in her room, but her hands were still sweating nervously. She had already figured out what the consequences of this phone call were this afternoon and nearly convinced herself to just let it be.

However, if she did not do so, she and Liam would have to carry the guilt of murdering two lives. She gritted her teeth and finally made the phone call.

"Liam took Ms. Juhl away to save me. If it wasn't for me, he wouldn't have done it. So, I hope that after you save Ms. Juhl, can you not hold him responsible?" Sophie finished her request in one breath and apprehensively waited for Zayn's reply.

Soren could not hear what was going on, but he could feel the chill emanating from Zayn's body.

Seeing Zayn's glum face, Soren thought that Zayn would directly hang up in the next second, but to his surprise, Zayn spat out two words through clenched teeth, "I promise."

Immediately after, Zayn questioned the caller, "How can I be sure that you're telling the truth?"

Sophie laughed bitterly and he could feel her helplessness through the phone. "I have nothing to prove what I said is true. It just depends on whether you choose to believe me."

She said this casually, but she was confident that Zayn would believe her.

Sophie made it clear that if Zayn believed her, it meant that he dared to seize the opportunity. If he did not believe her, it only meant that he was paranoid and did not dare to risk trying.

At the end of the day, Sophie was telling the truth. If Zayn did not believe her, it was his loss.

After a few seconds of silence, Zayn suddenly smiled silently. "Okay, I promise. Where is she?"

"I don't know yet." Sophie was a little shy. The confidence she had earlier disappeared instantly. "Liam separated me and Ms. Juhl to two different places, but in the next few days, we’ll be sent to the same place."

When Sophie finished speaking, Zayn's eyes narrowed and a dangerous light flashed in them. "When is Liam going to arrange the surgery?"

Sophie's heart jumped and she thought, ‘This man really knows everything.’

Regarding the surgery, Liam had kept every detail a secret even from Sophie. Liam did not tell her the exact time so that she would not worry.

"I’ll contact you on the day itself." Sophie could hear a faint sound of a car from downstairs and spoke fast, "Trust me, I’ll stall them and contact you in time, as long as you don't hold Liam responsible for this."

Zayn did not say anything. His lack of a reaction made Sophie feel uneasy.

She had spent the afternoon in her room torn about whether to call Zayn, but she obviously could not tell Liam the truth.

Liam saw the dark circles under Sophie’s eyes. He knew that she had not been able to get a good night’s sleep lately.

He sighed in his heart and held Sophie's hand. "Let's go downstairs for dinner."

Although they always quarreled lately, Liam and Sophie still could not help but give all their warmth to each other.

Sophie did not have much appetite, but she still ate half a bowl of salad. When Liam saw that she was just forcing herself, he sighed and stopped her.

"Sophie, let’s go out later."

Sophie was surprised and raised her head to look at the sky outside. "It's so late. Where are we going?"

"To help you do a checkup." Liam then instructed the maid to clean up the leftovers on the table and ordered someone to take Sophie’s coat.

"Now?" Sophie glanced at him and asked with some apprehension, "Do you want to do the surgery now?"

"No." Liam patted her hand to soothe her. "I've been a little busy these past two days and finally have some free time today, so I'll accompany you for the checkup. Let's go."

Liam took the coat from the maid and put it on Sophie. He then helped her to change into her shoes before he led her out the door.

Sophie subconsciously touched her pocket. The phone she casually stuffed in earlier was still there, so she felt at ease.

She did not know that Liam had restricted outgoing calls from this place. Everyone else's phone was restricted from calling out and only she could still use her phone normally.
