Zayn was the kind of person who would not show any weakness in front of his enemy even though he was seriously injured. Not to mention, the person in front of him was his former love rival.
After lying down for less than a minute, Zayn forced himself to sit upright and stared at Shaun before he felt more comfortable.
Shaun smirked and shook his head. In the end, he resisted the urge to stand up from his wheelchair just to agitate Zayn.
"I heard that you wanted to invest in Germany. Coincidentally, I have the same idea." Shaun's hands that were crossed earlier rested on his knees. This time, he did not have a joking tone and sounded serious.
Zayn stretched out his hand and pinched his nose probably because he felt that the smell of medicine around him was a bit pungent. His face turned a little colder.
In order to make it convenient to dress his wounds, Zayn did not wear a shirt and only had layers of white gauze that tightly wrapped his entire upper body, which made him look pale. However, he still exuded a natural arrogance and indifference.
It was not a hideous sight. On the contrary, it was somehow fitting for Zayn.
Shaun thought about it and could not imagine Zayn looking happy.
He was disgusted by his own imagination and snapped back to his senses to find Zayn looking at himself aggressively.
This was the first time Shaun took a serious look at Zayn and got a little lost in thought.
Perhaps Shaun still begrudged Lindsey for choosing this man in front of him. Even though Shaun already let go of his feelings for Lindsey, he still scrutinized Zayn with some resentment.
Shaun withdrew his gaze with some embarrassment and looked at a potted plant placed in the room. He touched his nose and asked, "What do you think?"
"Not great." Zayn balked at the idea and was impatient. "This is my business. I won't work with you."
Shaun sighed and said, "You're wrong. It's not just your business, it's all of our business. Lindsey’s your wife, but she’s also my sister and the President of Denarius, the real person in power in the American business circle. How can you say that this is merely your business? And..." Shaun's tone changed as he gently tapped the wheelchair under him. "I want revenge."
Shaun had always been the kind of person who looked gentle and elegant without the slightest bit of aggression. This was the first time Zayn saw such strong hostility in Shaun apart from things that involved Lindsey.
As the CFO of Hemera, Shaun's ability was unquestionable, but he was never someone who would be aggressive. It seemed that he was really pissed off this time.
"I’ve already taken care of Allie Wilford," Zayn said honestly. If this was the revenge Shaun wanted, then there was no point in him pursuing it further.
Unexpectedly, Shaun shook his head. "You’re wrong. Do you think this will be over if Allie Wilford died? No, it won’t! Who gave Allie the courage to kill? Who gave her the manpower and protected her? When I was hospitalized, Liam Wilford kept sending people to try to kill me, so I won’t just let this go just because Allie Wilford is dead."
"Of course..." As if Shaun was deliberately stimulating Zayn, he added with a smile, "I must save Lindsey."
Zayn just wanted to jump up and punch Shaun in the face at that moment.
His smile was really an eyesore.
There was a long silence as Shaun patiently waited for Zayn's final reply. In the end, Zayn glanced at him and gently nodded his head.
Soren was just about to report on this. "Liam Wilford attended a press conference this morning. The villa was in someone else's name and he was not involved in it. In the end, the incident was characterized as an accident with an unknown cause. Liam Wilford probably didn't want to be on the police’s radar again, so he tried not to get involved with these things."
"Does he think he won't get involved just because he doesn't want to?" Zayn already knew about Liam fabricating evidence to hand over to the police.
The evidence Zayn collected was all things that Liam had actually done, which could not be more real compared to Liam's so-called proof of innocence.
Zayn was able to send Liam to jail once, so he could do it a second time.
......
The noon sun shone on Sophie, but it did not warm her heart. Sophie’s heart just got colder and completely sank.
"Where did you guys lock Ms. Juhl up? I want to see her!" It did not matter if Sophie asked the maids or bodyguards, the answer she got back was always, "Madam, we don't know either. Please go back and rest."
The only thing Sophie could be sure of now was that Lindsey was still alive. That was because she had not yet been sent to the operating room and was not lying on the cold operating table.
However, Liam was determined not to let her have any contact with Lindsey again. Sophie seemed to be free to move around, but there was actually no difference between her and the imprisoned Lindsey.
Liam was not around and this was a place Sophie had never been before. It looked low-key and inconspicuous, but the inside was cozy and exquisitely decorated to Sophie’s style.
However, Sophie did not care to appreciate Liam's efforts at the moment.
