It was clear that there were quite a lot of people inside and Shaun was alone. Without much thought, Shaun already had a plan. He wanted to quietly retreat to the psychiatric hospital and find a place to charge his phone, then notify Zayn.
The cautiousness in Shaun's bones made him consider things more thoroughly. With a slight movement of his feet, he lowered his head and prepared to walk back.
"Since you're here, why are you leaving without saying hello?" A bright female voice suddenly sounded from behind.
Shaun paused in his footsteps, but he quickly regained composure and turned his head to look at Allie Wilford, who had appeared behind him at some point.
The mask and hat on Allie's face had been taken off and she was standing there with a seeming smile. "Please invite Mr. Juhl in."
Shaun clenched his fingers as he saw the group of people surrounding him. He threw the first punch and a burst of despair flashed through his heart.
He was a good fighter, but no matter how good he was, his two fists still could not defeat so many of them. Shaun had a misstep and he was overpowered by the group of people when someone behind him smashed his fist into Shaun's shoulder blade. Shaun stumbled and was then subdued.
Allie walked up to Shaun and saw a wound on his eyebrow. Allie gently touched it and said, "I can't believe they hurt your face. Sorry, Mr. Juhl."
In the next second, her voice suddenly became stern as she said, "Bring him in!"
Shaun was dragged inside.
Lindsey was unaware of what was happening outside. She watched as Sieben removed the ropes from her hands and feet and climbed up the dark walls in a short time like a lizard.
Her heart was tense and she folded her hands in front of her chest as she watched Sieben climb higher with unblinking eyes.
Suddenly, she felt a burst of sleepiness. Lindsey felt that her condition was getting worse and that it was a bit unbearable.
Lindsey only thought it was because she was already in poor health plus her pregnancy. What she did not know was that Sieben, who was pressed against the wall and approaching the skylight, also started to feel a little weak.
Sieben shook her head and tried to converge all her strength to her limbs. The wall looked straight, but perhaps due to erosion, the top was full of small uneven bumps, which allowed Sieben to climb up.
Knowing that time was of the essence and she could not delay, Sieben lied next to the small skylight as she held a tiny wire between her fingers to carefully remove the screws from the top of the window one by one.
Lindsey saw that Sieben had reached the window and let out a small sigh of relief. Then, she heard the sound of heavy footsteps from outside.
She was shaking and subconsciously looked towards the locked door. She then quickly returned to her senses and whispered at Sieben, "Hurry up! They’re coming!"
One of them must escape.
Sieben looked at Lindsey worriedly. She met Lindsey’s gaze and her hand paused in her movements, but she quickly unscrewed the bolts.
The movement outside seemed to die down. Lindsey's heart was beating so fast that it almost leaped out of her throat. She only hoped that they would not come in before Sieben went out.
"Hurry...hurry...hurry..." Lindsey chanted. Suddenly, she was unsteady on her feet and fell to the ground.
Above her, Sieben was also sweating profusely as she tried to maintain her balance and remove all the screws from the window at the same time. She felt like she was using up all her strength.
This feeling was clearly not right. She knew her body well and suddenly thought of the buns they ate in the afternoon. Sieben’s eyes turned cold and her fingers trembled, but she dared not stop for a moment.
All of a sudden, there was a sound of jingling keys coming from the tightly closed door. Lindsey shuddered and Sieben's heart jumped.
‘You must escape...’ Lindsey repeatedly thought to herself.
When her consciousness gradually faded, Lindsey heard a familiar voice.
"Linds!" The man's voice was frightened and angry, with a fit of monstrous anger that seemed murderous.
Lindsey felt a warm embrace on her body and reluctantly opened her eyes, only to see half of a familiar side profile.
"Brother?" Lindsey's words felt like it was squeezed out from her throat. She noticed the injury on Shaun's face, which seemed to give her a moment of clarity. "Brother, why are you here?"
Before Shaun could speak, the two were abruptly pulled apart.
Lindsey was pulled back on both arms, while Shaun was restrained by another two people and gagged. No matter how much he struggled, he just could not break free.
Suddenly, Lindsey felt the person standing behind her grab her hair.
There was a burst of stinging pain and Lindsey could not help but scream, "Ouch!"
A malicious smile appeared on Allie's face knowing that Lindsey was not conscious at this moment. She waved her hand and a person carrying a glass of water stepped forward to splash water on Lindsey's face.
Lindsey's paralyzed nerves instantly became active and the dull pain in her scalp remained. She only thought it was one of the Wilfords’ men who was yanking her hair. She was furious and shouted, "Let go of me!"
The other side did not respond, but Shaun could see clearly that Allie had a triumphant smile on her face.
